I'm a big fan of his. The guy can play. He gets killed around here. I have never heard of a 4 time all star who is 28 years old (29?) being regarded as the worst case scenario.
If thats who the Knicks end up with I hope it works, I really do. We havent seen good guard play since Allan Houston and Sprewell were here.
I also think if he was here it would allow Toney Douglas to play at the PG for 30+ minutes a night. A hardnosed tough as nails defender who can really score. He isnt able or ready to run an offense but the guy is a good BB player. I think with JJ (and Lee) as facilitators MDA would be more comfortable playing Douglas. That would also leave us with $10mm or so to sign a big. I like the idea of rolling the dice on Tyrus Thomas. His upside is fantastic. Not sure MDA could coach him.
People around here prob think its junk but I would feel pretty good about this lineup next year:
pg Douglas
sg JJ
sf Gallo
pf Lee
c Tyrus
bench: Chandler, Walker, Giddens
I think thats a solid group and the right kind of group for this coach.
The other option is using cap space to get Collison from NO
