If we want a C--why not get a 23 yo? I don't think having 2 7 footers is going to work long term in LA--taking that 14mm off of their bap is huge and that is fair compensation going back. That would give us Bynum Lee and Gallo upfront--something more palatable.

The lakers have like a million small forwards and points guards. They just gave Ron all that dough. Dude there was a reason why they got rid of their pick to the Knicks. I'm sure you will get a thanks but no thanks.

So you want to trade for Bynum when our coach will have him rotting on the bench?

And fork over 6yrs/$78mil to Lee but all of a sudden he's talk himself into talking that down to 6yrs/$60mil. BRIGGS would have our franchise in such a CLUSTERSTARFUCH... except maxed out 2-3 X above the not the Cap but Luxury Tax. And no Playoffs

or we could try & draft a C like Bynum using 1 of our future draft picks... oops, nevermind.

seriously tho, i don't think Lakers would take any package of assets we have to offer at this point... besides we don't even own the rights to our 2011 pick anymore, Houston has the swap rights... a deal like this couldn't even be consummated until after the draft & we make our selection... right now we have nothing but our cap space to try & patch together a team this summer... D Lee possibly could be used in a sign & trade for another pending FA like Bosh or Amare... other than that, be ready for the Marcus Camby to NY reports & T-Mac wants to remain a Knick stories to pop up in a few months.

Bynum would almost have no mobility in our offense and no use in general.

For the record BRIGGS has suggested

Monta Ellis who makes about $10-12mil/yr

Bynum who makes about $10-12mil/yr

Tyrus Thomas new deal making about $10-12mil/yr

Al Jefferson who makes about $12-14mil/yr

Lee new deal making about $10-12mil/yr

It's more than obvious he has no clue what the hell is going on....

i agree, MDA would never want a C like Bynum for his system... he'd be gizzing over someone like Mehmet Okur who would float around on the perimeter & launch 3's all day tho.

While not playing a lick of D...... and if Gallo doesn't show some consistent fortitude this is the path he's headed down. Defensively Gallo has of late been getting after it, but I'm not quite sure of his sustaining it.

Who do you want Camby????

Just something stupid for a second--first off where is this Al Jefferseon stuff coming from-- 3 years ago? People make sht up--go find me that thread if it was ever made.

If I was able to keep Lee and trade for Bynum--you could not come up with a better suggestion.
Bynum is a 20-10-2.5 C when HE is the C Lee moves back to PF and would still be 17-11 57%

Id rather have Bynum than almost any fa after Bosh wade and LBJ.

Finally Trueblue's third alias comes out! These posters get banne and come back--were not stupid trueblue!

i think Gallo's at least making somewhat of an effort to be more aggressive taking the ball to the hole of late... he's not ONLY settling for jumpers, but he still has some work to do w/his skills off the dribble... i have never had a problem w/Gallo's effort on defense... he's 1 of the few guys we have that isn't afraid to get pposterized in the paint by an attacking player... at least he puts forth the effort... the only thing i'd like to see him work on defensively is his recognition on help D... he's slow to react to switches just like everyone else on this team... u'd figure a well coached team wouldn't have all these problems but we obviously do.

You are right Briggs. Problem is D'Antoni does not see it that way. That and People are tired of trading picks for now.

Didn't dj post something about Nate McMillan saying that MDA told him that centers slow the game down. If Lopez is MDA's nemesis then Bynum would be his arch nemesis for sure.

u'd be stupid not to want Bynum... but i think before we start discussing players like Bynum, we need a different coach w/a different mentality... otherwise it's an exercise in futility.

i've said it many times, it's very rare that teams win championships in the NBA w/o a dominant shotblocking presence in the paint... Lakers, Spurs, Rockets, Knicks, Celtics, Heat, Pistons all had dominant shotblockers patrolling the inside... this isn't the only common denominator obviously, but it's important when you're talking about putting together a championship calibre roster... it's too bad our head coach doesn't buy into this notion.

Bynum in the east with Lee at PF would be a terror. Bynum would command a double team and Lee Gallo and whoever else was on our team could play off that with wide open looks. Bynum would compensate for Lee's D--and if we did a deal like that--we would still have 16.5mm to spread out to balance the team

For example

Bynum would cost us 10mm if we dumped Chandler and Douglas
Lee at 6 yrs 60mm starts at 8.75mm

We could do this and still have room for LBJ. Do you think LBJ would be more enticed by having Bynum here and Lee resigned?
