Seriously, this guy has to know something...I'm still in disbelief...I'm pissed that I'm now relegated to hoping we sign Lebron or quality Knick basketball is probably done for another 5 years... If he knows nothing then I want him fired as soon as Lebron re-signs with Cleveland...This organization used to be a punchline for the league...Management has changed and we are still being fleeced on every deal...The shet isn't funny anymore...

Thing is that he probably feels that unless we can get a 2nd Max type player that we won't be able to convince Lebron to come. The CHANCE, just the CHANCE to get a player on Lebron's level is worth giving up a pick. If you end up with Lebron will we ever speak of that pick again? Now of course if you don't get him the frustration will be palpable, but that doesn't make it the wrong move to make in order to have a serious chance to get him.

I do think tho that there are acceptable moves besides getting Lebron. We'll see just what ends up happening, but we have to be patient even tho it's hard to do.

who could we possibly acquire that would justify trading away Jordan Hill, swap rights protected to 1 in 2011 & a future pick protected to 5 other than Lebron or Wade?

guys like Bosh, Amare, Manu, D Lee, Joe Johnson, Boozer, Gay, Felton, Camby, T-Mac, etc. we could have been players for w/o making this trade.

I can't imagine anyone would want to come to this team to play for this coach except for the cash. Unfortunately the guys that the Knicks want have much better options. The teams that they are on can pay them more money, have better rosters, are set up better for the future, have better coaches and some of them have better tax advantages and climates. If any of these guys leave they can pick a team that can offer them everything that I mentioned except more money. That is going to leave the Knicks with sloppy seconds, a horrible coach, and no future until 2013.

I just love how you now see Walsh talking about the summer of 2011 as though that going through another season of this would be acceptable to the fanbase. After that trade went down you can't talk about 2011. I'm just surprised he went there knowing that Jeffries and Curry's contract come off no matter what in 2011.

we need to swing some kind of sign & trade for Bosh using Lee & hopefully that convinces Lebron to sign here this summer... i don't see any other way around it... i don't see both these guys leaving their teams in the lurch... Lebron will be hated forever in CLE regardless if he gets signed & traded or not, so the only issue w/him will be the money & which team gives him the better chance to win a championship... if we can get Bosh then Lebron coming to NY would be feasible to me... otherwise i don't see him coming to play w/this current collection of Knicks players.

we don't have the assets it will take to get guys signed longterm w/their respective teams that are good enough to convince Lebron to come here anymore cuz we no longer own the rights to our 1st round picks for the next few years.

He raised the bar on himself. A lot of people would have understood if he did not make the trade.

I hope Tmac stays next yr
but NY is too much of a reclaimation project for LBJ to come out and flatly sign on with NY Knicks

NY will take years before they are relevant in David Sterns NBA

agreed, the expectations definitely got raised to a new level... it was never Lebron or bust until he made that trade & gave away our future picks... we still could have sucked next year if we had ownership of our draft pick & been patient until 2011 when Melo, Parker & those guys become FA's... or we could have signed enough talent to be a playoff contender in 2010 while still maintaining the cap flexibility in 2011 to go after a max guy & still had our picks to round out the roster... we at least had options... now we're pretty much forced into signing anyone we can get our hands on even if we can't land the elite talent this summer.

wouldn't mind having T-Mac back but i would only offer him a 1 year deal at around $7 mil, or a 3 year $12-15 mil deal if he wants more security... he is way too much of an injury risk to invest much more until he can show he can stay healthy over the course of a full season.

Yup, we're now relegated to two things. Either get LeBron, or hope against hope that we're so bad next year and the year after AND win the lotto those two years. All of those are such long shots.

The scary thing is that Dolan is so loyal, yet so stupid, that he would have an extremely hard time firing Walsh. If David Stern didn't intervene, Isiah would still be here!

+1 completely agree with you. That's why I'm liking the Nets. They're doing everything right in this situation.

If we don't get Lebron, then that trade will be the second worst in Knicks franchise history, only beaten by the equally brain-dead trade of Curry for an unprotected first round pick and pick swap. Walsh has really screwed this franchise and I am starting to have serious doubts as to whether MDA is coach to lead us back to contention. I mean getting beat by 20 points by the Nets IN YOUR OWN BUILDING is just pathetic.

Exactly, why would Bosh or Lebron come here when they can go to the Nets and get the same large market benefits, but also go to a team with Harris, Lopez, CDR, and a high lottery pick. If the Nets get the #1 pick, they can draft Wall and trade Harris for a PF. Our draft a stud PF and keep Harris. Either way, they are going to be one player away from having a really good team. In fact, I really don't understand how that team has only won 7 games.

Alternatively, Bosh could go play with Wade or Lebron could go play with the Clippers (I know its the Clippers, but the team has Haman, Davis, Blake, Gordon, and a lottery pick). Simply put, the ONLY way we could convince Lebron to come play here is if Bosh comes with him and TMac convinced him that he will resign for the veterans minimum. The best team we could hope for is T-Mac, Chandler, Lebron, Bosh, and Gallo, with Sergio, Walker, and Curry off the bench. That would be a good team, but A LOT must fall into place for that to happen. We have as good a chance of getting the #1 pick next year as we do to sign Lebron and Bosh.

Here is the stupid part--we already had 24mm in cap space. Lebron is his own man--does he need someone to hold his hand to come to NY if that is what he desired to do? We had the cap space for LBJ + another 8mm to sign Lee or someone else on top of it.

This is LeBron's 7th year in the league. How many championships has he won. Zero!

The point is that even LeBron needs a team to win. If he were to sign here, we still wouldn't win. We do need the 2nd star player. But even after that we need a team, other players who can play well. I don't think we have them.
