2009-10 CHA 8 27:41 5.5 10.4 53.0 0.0 0.3 0.0 2.6 3.4 77.8 1.9 6.4 8.3 1.3 2.1 1.0 2.9 4.1 13.6

13.6 points 8.3 rebounds 3 blocks shooting 53% at 27 per. He reminds something of a cross between Josh Smith and Kenyon Martin--and only 23. I have to wonder if we cant get Chris Bosh--that is we spend 10.5 mm on David Lee and --it might take 12.5 on Thomas--that might be a better deal than adding an amare stoudemire and his injury history for 17mm to start.

This would allow Lee to conmtinue playing like he has with a guy who can bring synergy and balance to the frontline but still get up and oown the floor. I would advise bringing in atleast 1 true 7 footer

That would be 5 years 62.5mm to Thomas 6 years 63mm to Lee
That would leave us roughly 13.5mm
Still have the option of pairing Gallo Douglas with Curry and some picks to see if we can get another guy who will fit--maybe Paul??

Would New Orleans take Gallo Douglas Curry pick 35 and 1st rounder in 2011 for Paul--it certainly would be enticing. I want to keep Chandler--so I added in the 2011 number 1 instead.

Our team would be 14

C Lee
F Ty Thomas 5 years 62.5mm
F Chandler up front
G T Mac 2 years 6mm
G Chris Paul
6th man C J Watson 3 years 7.5mm
7th man Luis Scola 3 years 18.5mm
8th Sergio Rodriguez
9th Billy Walker
10 Krylko Fasenko 2 years 1.2mm per
Draft pick Jamine Petersen?
min Anthony Tolliver
min Josh Boone
Min J Pargo

Your not giving CP3 much to work with on the perimeter. MDA would not be able to spread the floor. Tyrus n Lee are midrange guys. TMac isn't really a pure shooter and neither is Chandler. Should be better on D but congested on offense cuz too many guys prefer to operate midrange to inside. Teams will pack in to prevent penetration and force us to shoot from outside.

I'd prefer CP3, TMac, JJ3, Lee, Tyrus - Gallo. I'd use Chandler in the trade for CP3 instead of Gallo cuz he isn't the 3pt threat Gallo is and Gallo would help spread the floor more.

I don't think the Knicks can trade their 2011 pick because they traded their 2010 pick and you are not allowed to trade picks two years in a row. However, I do think the Knicks should explore getting either Paul or Collison. Collison has been amazing with Paul out so New Orleans definitely has options.

Instead of picks we could maybe take on some salary to provide them some cap relief by taking back a player they want to clear off the cap. I'm not talkin useless just maybe someone that doesn't fit into their plans but could be useful off the bench in spots.

Thomas is not an MDA type player, or at least from what I've seen of him.

Has nothing to do with height, but about the ability to move the ball and 'understand' MDA's system.

And if you did sign him, MDA would quickly fall out of love with him.

I think he is and where is why. he can play 7 feet at 6-9 he can get up and down the floor like a fast F. He finishes with ease and has added an 8-10 foot j. in faster pace system--there should be 10-13 good shots for Tyrus a game and he should be able to shoot +55% and still grab 8-10 rebounds and block 3 shots. He's been impressive with Charlotte in less than 30 min--and stats+ L Brown dont always go hand and hand. I would have to think that the Knick level of interest has risen with this player. I know they want the sure thing first but if this kid continues this play--he will be up there.

While it's true that MDA favors smart skilled players at every position, I think he can make allowances for an active guy like Tyrus. He does many of the things Hill does, only he's a bit more experienced and I think he's even more athletic and aggressive as a shotblocker. I think he's very much an MDA type in those respects.
