Does anyone know if Ilgauskas can play for the Cavs in the playoffs? He has to wait a month to re-sign with his former team (Cavs) but he could have signed with any other team once he was waived and played in the playoffs if signed by a contending team. But he didn't and the playoff roster deadline was March 1st. So it does look like he is waiting to get back with the Cavs but I don't think he can play in the playoffs with them. Since Shaq had surgery on his right thumb and will be out for maybe 2 months, this is a big deal for LeBron's pursuit of a ring.

Zydrunas Ilgauskas reached a buyout with the Washington Wizards, so the veteran center is free to return to the Cleveland Cavaliers in a month. Of course, several other teams are interested in his services, too, and he could join them immediately.

You have to be cut by a team by March 1st in order to be able to join another team and be on their playoff roster.

He can re-join Cleveland after the 30 days are up and be on their playoff roster, yes.

Had he been cut say March 3rd, then, he could join them but he couldn't be on a playoff roster.

Shaq, Antawn Jamison, Anderson Verajoa, JJ Hickson, Zydrunas Ilguaskas. Looks very clogged to me.

OK Thanks. I thought he had to be signed by March 1st.

Cleveland looks like they want him. From a Cleveland website:

Full Court Press....Cavaliers share the love with Zydrunas Ilgauskas
by John Bena (aka CavsBlogger) on Mar 3, 2010 4:32 AM CST in Cavaliers in the News 0 comments

The Cavaliers traded Zydrunas Ilgauskas on February 17 - then didn't speak to the team's all-time leader in games played, blocked shots and rebounds for over two weeks. While Z wa a member of the Washington Wizards, they couldn't. Once Ilgauskas cleared Waivers, the Cavaliers were sure to remind Z just how much he is appreciated and wanted in Cleveland.

Sources said Ferry met with Ilgauskas, who has been working out for the past week in New York, where he maintains an off-season home. It is believed Ferry made Ilgauskas an offer to re-sign with the team at that time.

Then on Tuesday, sources said, several of Ilgauskas' former and perhaps soon-to-be reunited teammates came to see him after the team flew into town for Wednesday's game against the New Jersey Nets.

There are some indications Ilgauskas could make his decision known very soon, perhaps as early as today.

None of this comes as much of a surprise, just like it will not be a shock when Z announces he is returning to the team. Still, showing a bit of love for Z, especially after the trade and subsequent two weeks that have passed since, is important. While some may feel there were deals in place, etc, there were not and giving Z any reason NOT to come back to Cleveland are foolish.

Once again, Danny Ferry, and the Cavaliers' players, have proven this is a great place to play.

With Shaq out, they need Ilgauskas. Shaq has only been averaging 23:23 min/game this year. He is 38 years old in a few days. A tandem of Shaq + Ilgauskas at Center is very formidable, especially when/if they play the Lakers with Bynum and Gasol.

Exactly? I think Knick fans somehow want to believe that it's Lebron and 10 scrubs. You dont win 60 games with scrubs. Ill put money on it--Cleveland will cakewalk to the title this year.

RIP Crushalot😞
