atmosphere is going to be nuts...

3pm EST on NBC

i still remember US completely upsetting canada back in the day in the world cup of hockey back in 96...this crowd is going to be going crazy in vancouver...

USA is getting a lot of chances this period as opposed to the 1st where they looked a bit tentative.

Liking the pace of this game right now. Intensity has been turned up several notches.

What is lost on causual fans is just how hard the sport is. For example any of us can go out on a basketball court and shoot hoops. Might not be any good, but we can do it.

How many can skate, skate and stop, Skate and stop and handle the puck. Oh and when you have the puck they can kill you. The skill level to even play a hockey game is high let alone be great at it. These guys catch passes in mid air and never break stride.

I got to see the Buffalo Sabres practice one time and was blown away over the skill set they practice with stick handling and the speed by which they do everything.

Hockey is amazing in person and for those that play its more of a cult following. I rarely watch on TV but with HD its becoming much easier and pleasurable to watch it. The olympic games don' have TV time outs and few penalties so the game moves faster than the NHL.

That was a hell of a game to watch and being a Canada Homer of sorts I was ok with them winning the gold. They are small population nation and this is their game. Its of national pride and intensity we really don't have much to compare to. We don't need to own every sport. We do Basketball and Baseball.

Hope some of you enjoyed the game who normally don't watch it. These guys played their hearts out!
