Yeah, maybe Heinrich, but he was at least a SG in college. Its hard to find somebody to compare him to because he started out as just a situational gunner, then got a little bigger and became an off the bench, stretch the defense forward, then his handle got better and he played flex forward, and now his handle is so good that he played PG most of the game against SJ.
Only a player who has the opportunity to play 5 years could go through a transformation like that.
He could just go to Europe and be a big time player right away like his dad did (dad played with Bilas in Europe), but he seems like he'd at least have a shot in the NBA since he's not tiny, can handle, knock down a trey from anywhere, and leads the best conference in college ball in steals.
How about Jim Boeheim's player development in recent years? You look at the player that Warrick was when he got there and by the time he left. Rautins. Flynn going as high as he did in the draft. Rick Jackson scored 28 the other night... he couldn't shoot from point blank when he got there.
For a while it seemed like he would just ride naturally talented players, groom role players to fit a specific need, and put them all in a system that allows big time players to expend most of their energy on offense. Now, he looks like a top 5 coach by any measure, and I can't imagine sending my kid to play for anyone but him or Krzyzewyski if I had that kind of choice.
Alan Hahn:
Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)
