I would rather have Bosh and Lee, but Bosh is a better player. I don't think Amare is discernible better, but BOsh is bigger, longer, and more physical in the paint. He also is a slightly better defender. If we are going to play an undersized center, I would rather Bosh playing center rather than Lee. Bosh has the size to actually get away with playing center. Lee is overmatched almost every game. To me, that is worth the extra $4-$5 million. But I agree that I would not give Amare the max. He has been injured too much, does not play defense, and is a subpar rebounder for someone with his size and athletic ability.
Ultimately, I think we end up signing Bosh, resigning Lee, and resigning T-Mac and Sergio. We just promise Bosh that we will use Curry's expiring deal to trade for another star player. If you add Bosh to this team, if T-Mac can play at 85% of his past glory, and Gallo can pull his game together, we should be a 40-45 wins out of the team and make the playoffs. Walsh then just needs to use CUrry to trade for that last player to really push us over the top. Chris Paul might be available with the way Collison is playing.
