At All-Star Weekend in Dallas, Toronto's Chris Bosh was asked on an ESPN Radio show about the widespread assumption that he not only would be leaving the Raptors as a free agent this summer, but that he would select a team based on where LeBron James and Dwyane Wade land. The thinking behind that view was that two stars always are better than one, which is why the New York Knicks, for example, cleared a staggering amount of cap space last week.

Not so fast, though. Bosh said he already had given some thought to that possibly mistaken notion.

"I was just looking at what people say and it's like, 'Chris is going to go here and play with him, or this, this and that.' I'm like, 'Wait a minute,' " Bosh said. "I feel like I should be built around. And maybe that's just my ego talking, but I feel that I'm a very good player in this league and I'm only going to get better. So ... maybe we should be getting somebody [in Toronto]."

Interesting. Maybe it was Bosh's ego talking. He at least showed self-awareness by suggesting that. Maybe he had just tired of hearing outsiders predict his fate and dictate his thought process. Maybe he believes in the Raptors' and general manager Bryan Colangelo's long-term vision. Or maybe he just wanted to throw a bone to worried fans in Canada.

In the end all these guys have ego's that need to be fed. They all want to be "the man". Just look at Shaq and Kobe.

Chris Bosh is an idiot every time he gets quoted in the press.
He's an undeserved prima donna.
I really hope we don't sign him. I know I'm just going to hate him.

I can't be mad at Chris for what he said.

He is a very good player in this league, and for him to stay motivated he has to believe that he should be built around. He backs it up with his play.

Even Chris Bosh knows he's not an Alpha Male. He IS a second banana. And there is nothing wrong with that.

PF - Lee (signed at 10MM or so)

I don't mind that lineup. Foye can be had for 3-4 million I would keep S-Rod for the 2.4 option. I like signing Lee and Bosh and then having some assets to play with down the road for a future sign and trade. Felton if you can get him at 5-6 million is a steal.

True.

He has reached a point in his career where he is at his physical prime and playing as well as any power player in the league. You know the guy also has a lot of pride and is pissed off by talk that he is a 1A level free agent. Anyone in his career situation would be saying the same thing.

That lineup is a crap load better than anything we've put on the court this year and allows Lee to play PF with a real presence in the middle in Bosh. I think that could be our look next year. to your point, that also gives us some ability to make a move the following year.
