Unless someone gains major momentum in the East I don't see anyone from that Conference winning the title this year.

Lakers vs. Cavs this time, since Lebron won't get punked by Hedo this year.

I think the favorites our the Lakers but I def see the Mavs as the darkhorse. The addition of Butler, Stevenson, and Haywood really changed the dynamic of the Mavs. These guys add some seriously lack defense, they are all solid contributors, and they added depth.

Orlando on paper is stacked, even more than Cleveland but has yet to put it together. Magic might have too much talent but not enough chemistry.

Meither have the pedigree that Phil Jax has.

Assuming no injury Its natural to assume Lakes-Cavs. Cavs-Magic semi might could be a battle where Lakes COULD walk thru the west if Kobe can stay reasonably healthy. Cavs-Magic goes 7 games they could be beaten up.

Magic have to figure out how to keep Carter healthy and blend that talent into on cohesive unit. This is where Lebron has really shown to be incredible that he has adapted well.

I think the Nuggets are the second biggest threat in the West. Dallas always competes hard, but they usually just come up short every time.

Melo and Billups is too much for Dirk and company imho.

I agree.

Despite LA being the defending champs, and having the best closer in the game, they have to be somewhat concerned over the two teams that are capable of beating them in Denver and Cleveland

I disagree Melo imho is overrated without Billups his teams our first round playoff team. Dallas has quite a few guys with a ton playoff experience and this time around Melo is actually going to have to guard someone instead of that space cadet Josh Howard.

Yea but I said Denver is better WITH Chauncey. And he's the most clutch player in the league after Kobe imo.

Yea but the Nuggets will need big performances out of Nene, Martin, Smith, Anderson, and Melo will need to play out of his mind etc if there making it to the Finals just don't know if those guys are up to the task.

But don't you think the same applies to Dirk, Kidd, Terry, etc ?

Hmm. They're going to have to play a little better than last night if they want to get past CLE.

I'm not saying that criteria doesn't apply to those guys it's a question of can they.

I've always felt that Dallas lacked defense and another clutch player but with this trade I think they've addressed these issues with Wizards trade. Josh Howard was always iffy and inconsistent, and their defenses was crap. Now you have Dirk, Terry, and Butler who all when healthy can put up 25, 30 points on any given night. Their defense with Haywood, Marion, Butler, and Stevenson coming off thee bench is now pretty solid imo.

Now Dallas might need a full season together but they are still a very dangerous team.

I gotcha. I do think Dallas upgraded their squad. And they looked good against the Lakers the other night.

Just have to wait and see how it pans out.

I agree on Dallas. When they made the trade for Butler and Hayward, I said that was a great addition for Dallas. They have a ton of veterans and now a center who can challenge anyone in the West. Lakers have got to be favorites but I am pulling for the Mavericks.

I would love to see Denver beat out LA and get to the finals. I think it is the Cavs all the way in the East.
