Is this really close to becoming a reality? I don't know how Wallace meshes with the current team but we add yet another young, talented all-star calibre player who can give this team more attitude and more intensity. Stabury and Wallace bring in what Sprewell left, plus so much more talent and a future. This would give us an incredibly talented roster.
C Mutombo
PF Wallace
SF Van Horn
SG Houston
PG Marbury
6th Thomas
7th Hardaway
8th Anderson
9th Norris
10th Harrington
11th Sweetney
12th Smith
IR Trybanski

Oops mybad. Don't know what i was thinking. The starting line-up would be more along the lines of Mutombo, Thomas, Wallace, Houston, and Marbury.

I don't like this trade. Makes us too weak at SF position. Much prefer to go after Artest with the same type of package (we'd have to absorb some overpaid contract too, I imagine). Artest's as much of a head case as Wallace, but he's so much more competitive and hungry. With him, we'd have a superb defensive front court to match our league best offensive backcourt

Artest or Sheed, either/or, I'll take it! It's gonna be SO nice to see a team with talent and fire. I have been waiting for that for such a long time... Whew!

Good post, Knixkik. My sentiments exactly.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

WOrst nightmare, which Briggs bought up in another site makes a good point.

What if we get a major injury, miss playoffs, we should have had the picks protected at worst a top three. Kind of like Detroit got with Darko.

Just lamenting the down side.

Thomas certainly has made his mark in a short time.

I wish someone would write a book about the last ten years in the Knicks front office. What a wild swing they are.

Our franchise seems to waiver back on forth on how to run itself.

but having sheed in the eastern conference will do wonders for our organization. yeah, he is a defensive liability at sf, but no sf can guard him either. he also has the range with his shooting. he has been shooting more outside shots than before. he is still athletic and fairly young for a forward at 29. any lineup with sheed, starbury and houston is great. i do not know why people are having doubts. do you remember the lineup a year ago or even a week ago? then to get sheed and starbury will assure us being the nba elite. yes, not eastern but nba elite. if chaney fumbles with such a lineup then fire him. but this is a recipe for success. championship dreams, baby, championship dreams.

Amen. You beat me to the punch making that point. Knicksbb10 and I had the same discussion last night online.

Since the moral majority is not running things anymore, I would not mind Sheed here.

Granted, he has his baggage, but if its about winning now, and with attitude, then it would not clash with Laydogs regime.

Im not flipping, Its clearer now what direction the team is going in. Its not by first choice, but at least it has definition. My quest was to understand what in the name Laydog was doing. Thomas's direction is not quite as stealth.

I prefer we do not sign sheed for 7 years, 4 is the going rate for defective superstars. Sheet at 37 making 20 mil is not a pretty thought.

I like Rahweed at power forward. Trade KT and KVH for him. Or KVH or Frank. Portland can get out from KVH in 2 years. I would prefer alan financially, but if they ain't worried, why should I.

Why not take Ruban Patterson. Who cares about womens group with this team, we just slap those protesters down.

Dolan would be confirmed to have gone to the dark side for sure!

We are a better team without doing this deal. I'd rather have Van Horn and Williams than Wallace. He is a cancer that doesn't take care of his body and is on the way down. He doesn't have those hops like he used to ... as is a jump shooter. I'd rather have Van Horn and his team attitude.

Well Messiah Thomas would rather have players with the intensity that KVH lacks. Plus, he wants to rid this team of LayDown's mistakes.

Keep doing your thing, Zeke!

Artest on the other hand would be a great fit. I couldn't imagine a more lethal 1 through 3 in the league with PG Marbury (penetrating, scoring, assisting, closing out games) SG Houston (outside shooting) and SF Artest (defensive stopper, rebounder, intimidator), .. with Deke and Thomas protecting the lane. We would need another scorer at that point off the bench... Maybe get Eddie Jones out of Miami.

Artest is good, but harder to obtain since he's in the base year of his contract.

Eddie Jones? IMO we don't need him.

What about Darius Miles? Frank Williams for Darius Miles works cap-wise... Isiah offered Ward for Miles straight up... Paxson countered with Frank Williams... Chad Ford had this rumor. I personally would consider that deal... but probably wouldn't do it. They would have to throw in something else.

Darius Miles for Frank and Othella. You'd have.

PG Marbury/Norris
SG Houston/Miles
SF KVH/Hardaway
PF Thomas/Sweetney/L.Smith
C Mutombo/Doleac/Trybanski

Good mix of youth and veterans. I don't know though... I think I still would prefer Frank.

I would love for us to get Darius. He's young and athletic. Just what we need.
