If Walsh made D'Antoni available to other teams like Kerr did would anyone offer him a contract?

I don't think so. He might wind up as an assistant if coach k ends up in NJ but I don't see anyone taking on this guy.

If Tim Floyd could get another coaching job after the Bulls debacle then so can D'Antoni after this stint.

Another anti D'Antoni thread huh? No team is ever excited about picking up a coach fresh off a losing season but it would depend on the team. But let's see how smug you and all the other MDA bashers are when DW puts a better roster together.

By all rights we shouldve been blown out tonight by the Celtics but the team played a really tough game considering our lack of size. This team has lost a lot of tough games. My take is that we'll be winning games like this with a good deal more balance to the roster. If we had a guy like Camby next to Bosh that would give this team a far better chance to get stops we need to wins games.

question is also would anyone pay him the kind of money he is getting here.

he'd probably have to wait a year.

is there a coach in the NBA that couldn't get that roster to win?

Remember Larry Brown? He got a job.

D'antoni would be in Chicago in 10 min or the moment They dump Delnegro.

Euro owner Russian would hire him for nets. Denver if Karl does not come back.

Sadly, a lot of teams would hire Mike D'Antoni. He's a younger Don Nelson. : /

I wish we would have hired Avery Johnson, Scott Skiles or Jeff Van Gundy. I would even take Lawrence Frank or Byron Scott over D'Antoni. I hate, hate, HATE this small ball all offense, no defense, no discipline, smiling after losses and cracking jokes crap system he runs.

The first step would be to require D'Antoni to coach the all-around game and not just a run and gun offense. That would piss him off and make him want to leave. At that point Walsh can make him available. I think D'Antoni would get another job but he would not be the darling he was, and he would not be looking at the same kind of money he was because a lot of his faults have been exposed now that he does not have all-stars:

1) D'Antoni has no in-game coaching savvy.
2) D'Antoni has no effective game plan when his run and gun offense is not working.
3) D'Antoni has no clue how to communicate work with players that are not in his crew of favorites, he likes to play mind games.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

When I think of the great coaches...and let's not confine ourselves here to basketball the one who comes to mind is Shula.
Bum Phillips was quoted as saying "he can take his'n and beat your'n and he can take your'n and beat his'n"
Great coaches bring out the best in what they have.

If you played chess and study only openings and development and never the end game could you be world champ?
Is basketball only about scoring? No. Is D'Antoni and end game coach? I have not seen it.

Bill Simmons on Tyreke Evans "The prototypical 0-guard: Someone who handles the ball all the time, looks for his own shot, gets to the rim at will and operates best if his teammates spread the floor to watch him."

d'antoni would be hired in 5 minutes by one of the following: Chicago, Toronto or NJ.

MDA is what we thought he was. An offensive coach running a scheme the requires a strong PG and bigs who can run and shoot the 3. He doesn't have the talent and therefore has not been successful. If we had a team like he had in PHX, you would all be riding his jock right now. This season has made doubters out of all of us, but you can't really judge a coach with the talent (or lack thereof) that we have.

to be fair i think a fair amount of different coaches could have won with the team he had in Phoenix.
