Center

The Knicks need players to rebuild the interior presence on defense. 6'11 Camby fits that criteria better than any available center. If there is a more fluid center on the radar, I would like to know who he is.

6'11 Bosh compliments the ball handling required to play D'Antoni's preferred pace. At 6'11 he plays the role of Pau Gasol. I didn't know he could handle the ball as fluidly as he displayed in the all star game. Book it.

Crystal Ball Shift du jour

6'3 G Sergio
6'8 G McGrady
6'8 F The Mayor, who can slide to guard if needed
6'11 F Bosh
6'9 C David Lee

6'11 C Camby to allow Lee to slide to forward
6'10 F Gallo as sixth man until further notice
6'3 G Eddie House
6'2 G Toney Douglas

That's nine

If D'Antoni didnt play Darko why do you think he would play Camby? Can Camby shoot 3's?

The whole deal is can you get the player--why would Chris Bosh take 30+mm less????? to play in NY???

If you are going to take 30mm less--go play in Florida and save some of it from state income tax.

It's nice to say Chris Bosh but how many people here would take 30+mm less?

Gallo is the worst man, I really despise that pick. Dude is easy to cover if he's just going to walk around the perimeter. How does a guy like that go 3-6 in 20+ minutes?
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

The Answer Man Plays Dominoes

Q. JohnWallace - How does a guy like that go 3-6 in 20+ minutes?

A. Until Gallo develops some nuance to his game he should be a sixth man. That is where The Answer Man has him slotted. But, chill for a moment, look at the bright side, Gallo is by any measure still a rookie. He has played a grand total of 81 NBA basketball games. 81. Imagine what his next 81 will look like once his experience catches up to his developing physique.

While we are discussing yoots, lets talk about my favorite yoot, The Mayor. Wilson Chandler is the ripe old age of 22. He is a legit 18-20 point per game scorer that would be slobberingly coveted by many here, if he were wearing any other jersey. Superstar? Who said superstar? Now that Chandler has a legit star in McGrady to sit next to on the team plane, it will be more fun to see what he learns.

In our exuberant impatience to see the yoots flourish, we sometimes forget they are still yoots.

Answerman--tell me how many human beings take 33mm less? I agree with you on Gallinari--I think he might be better from a 6th man position and we put in a real C or PF to go with Lee. I knwo people dont want to hear that but Gallinari can take Harringtons 30 minutes off the bench--we need quality size to go ALONG with David Lee. The problem is who

The Answer Man Never, Ever Fiddles and Diddles With (cough) Real GM

Q. briggs - tell me how many human beings take 33mm less?

A. Humans who like warmer climate, brighter lights, shaking hands (or free kisses) with celebrities sitting courtside, loud standing ovations, the best seats in great restaurants or reporters 9 deep outside their locker every night. Forget playing amateur accountant, for some smart and forward-thinking players the money is only a part of the equation.

Bosh is smart.

The extra cash needs to be dedicated to the center and big forward spots

no matter if it tales two years

Marcus Camby and Chris Bosh are only the first step

I think Bosh solves a lot of problems for this team. That said, for some reason I can't see him coming here.

I'd go after Bron and Tyrus Thomas, Dlee and Sergio. Charlotte is trying to sell the team and won't re-sign Tyrus. Or Tyson Chandler for that matter.

The only way you play for D'Antoni if you are over 6'9" is if you have tremendous character but are tragically flawed on the court like Jeffries and Bender.

That is a very good question.
And no Camby cannot shoot 3's. Bender can.

I see what you're saying with this argument but remember a couple of things about Bosh -- (1) Bryan Colangelo has already gone on record and said publicly early on in the season that he wasn't sure if Bosh was a max. player and if he'd even be retained. I thought that was a big statement (and a dick move if you ask me) that Bosh definitely should've stored in his memory bank. And (2) Bosh's agent is a Hofstra U alum and a life-long Knick fan. If anyone could convince Bosh to come here and play it's his agent right? Two pretty big factors if you ask me...I don't know, just sayin'...

Finestrg - excellent personal details on Bosh and the personalities behind the dollar figures. Player agents assert a lot of influence on player movement and the longer the deal the better.

Bosh brings the frontcourt skill set that D'Antoni prefers.

It may not be perfect but the criteria is that the pieces fit

Five guys who can all handle the ball is a good place to start

I like what you wrote, Answer Man, but I have one problem with the lineup that you suggest.

If Bosh leaves Toronto, its is likely because he wants to be able to compete for a championship. The Bull's dramatically better existing core lineup makes them the favorite to attract Bosh if the Knicks are also planning on signing only 1 free agent in 2010. In my view, the only chance the Knicks have in attracting Bosh to NYC is if they are able to sign 2 free agents in 2010, hopefully with the second one being LBJ.
