DENVER (AP) — The Denver Nuggets waived 11-year veteran Cedric Ceballos, rookie Omar Cook and Chinese free-agent Menk Batere on Thursday.
Ceballos, a forward with a career average of 14.3 points, signed with the Nuggets on Sept. 29 after stints with Phoenix, the Los Angeles Lakers, Dallas, Detroit and Miami.

He appeared in three preseason games with the Nuggets, averaging 8.3 points and five rebounds.

Cook, a point guard drafted in the second round, played in three preseason games, averaging three points and two assists. He entered the draft after his freshman season at St. John's, where he averaged 15.3 points and 8.7 assists.

Menk, a center, was a member of China's "Walking Great Wall" during the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He appeared in two preseason games for the Nuggets, averaging two points and one rebound.

The moves reduced Denver's roster to 15. Final rosters must be set by Monday.

Knowing Layden, of these 3, he'd pick up Ceballos. Knowing Knicks fans, and myself - I'd scream, go pick up Omar Cook, the guy is out there for free basically! Take the boy.

Get Menk, he'll be a decent center for us. He has genuine talent and is built as an ox. At this moment in time we don't need a PG even if he has NY roots.

VG would never play him... i'm telling you, Cook is our PG of the future. who cares if he can't shoot, he drops dimes as good as any and he has a future.

I don't know. Cook should have stayed in school as Wright should have done as well. Cook has talent but he isn't there yet so I don't think he'd make it of the IR with JVG at the helm. Menk has been very impressive but comes with baggage, do we care? Nope. I'd rather get Rusty Larue even over Cook who's been waived by the Jazz as a third string PG if we trade any of ours away.

I think Menk and Omar are both worth a trial for the Knicks. It would be a a bit of a gamble but I think they can cut it. Batere because he's tall and obviously has some skills, so he is better than anything we have right now at the 5. Cook because he's a NY kid, and has bags of potential, even if he should have stayed in school. Who cares if he can't shoot, Jackson can't either!
We suck.
