Papabear Says

I thought Jefferies played good defense but he wasn't worth the money we were paying him. I would however sign him for a minimun salary plus bonuses.

Provocative question considering the hatred that is directed toward Jeffries on a regular basis around here.

Are you talking about this year- the final 29 games? I could actually see Walsh doing it if he was to be available, especially since we have nobody of any size on the team now, and Jeffries knows the system. Gallo is now our tallest player, from what I can see, and our best shot blocker along with Chandler. Not exactly an interior D to inspire fear in someone driving to our basket.

i'd sign him to a veteran's minimum deal, nothing more... he does fill a role as a defensive presence, but he's not worth sacrificing any cap space over, so anything more than a minimum contract is too much in our current situation.

Jeffries is not going to be bought out this year. We don't want him back anyway. Let it go.

ABsolutely I would sign him back for cheap. He is the only guy who plays D down low for us. We don't need to give burn to Hill. I want the majority of minutes going to Gallo, but JJ would help us get some wins and have some fast break chances. Mofo is VERY active defensively. Would I sign him beyond this season?

As other posters have said... "HELL NO"! Dude can't hit a freakin layup =/

i wouldn't even oppose signing Fishlips after this season, as long as it was on a minimum contract... we'll need to fill roster spots w/minimum contract players anyway & if u can get him at that money he's pretty good value actually... he could definitely be a decent role player off the bench on a quality team.

What in the hell?

Oh man.... if Jeffries offered to PAY the Knicks the vet minimum I wouldn't want him back.

If he came back then Mike would go back to starting him at PF and playing him 30 minutes a game.

Is that what you guys want? Really?

NO THANKS!!!!

Let's re-sign Shandone Contracterson while we're at it!

jeez....please let O-Face's crusty fishlips rest in peace! He's Houston's problem now!

I would sign jeffries to the league minimum to take charges and get a rebound here and there, anything over the league minimum is overpaying

I would resign him to 1-2 mill if we had no better center options. The guy was solid on defense and had improved his jumper. He just could not make layups to save his life. But the bottomline is he was our defense. I am interested to see how we look defensively now that Jeffries is gone.

No, even if he plays for free. Everytime I see him I would remember the 2 picks. He would be a living nightmare.

lol... he did give me permanent emotional trauma watching him miss wide open layups & bricking up shots... maybe on those grounds alone it wouldn't be worth even a minimum.

If JJ2 ever comes back to the Knicks, TMS and I are going to have to go down to the Garden and take matters into our on hands.
