I'm hoping McGrady contributions fall somewhere inbetween what Grant Hill gives now and what Jason Kidd gives now. I'm not expecting an All Star; I'm expecting solid play and our best perimeter playr since Allan Houston.
For all the attention we give to our point guard and our bigs on this messageboard, our perimeter players have been at best average. I feel much better about Gallo and Chandler now that they will not be the focus of our perimeter attack. I for one hope he proves worthy of sticking around. I would love to add a center and a guard to this current group (if it works out) as opposed to putting all the eggs in the LeBron basket. For all the negativity surrounding potentially acquiring Joe Johnson, if this experiment works out, I'd love to add him. Johnson (or Wade for that matter), McGrady, Chandler/Gallo, Lee, a legit center would work out fantastically. With that group, I would absolutely love to package Gallo to a place like Milwaukee and grab someone like Andrew Bogut, whose ceiling isn't Gallo's, but the type of body the team needs. I do not expect McGrady to flourish in this lineup but I'll approach this situation with an open mind and he very well could be a piece moving forward. Worst case is no J Ared Effries is gone DLeethal wrote:

ain't nobody doubting T-Mac's talent, but his long history of breaking down during the season doesn't instill much confidence that he'll stay healthy over a full 82 & i think u have to think he's been slowed some by those injuries... a downgraded version can span many different levels... so far he hasn't shown anything this season... we need to keep our expectations low on T-Mac until he proves he can still play at a high level.

You're expecting too much from a broken down soon to be 31 year old Tracy McGrady. This guy came out of high school. He's had microfracture surgery. Look what happened to Penny after that surgery. There is a lot of wear on that body of his. I think he has something left in the tank but nothing close to what we see in these videos, aka his prime. Hopefully he can stay healthy and contribute something out there but expecting more than a shell of his former self is a stretch.
This sorta feels like when we got Steve Francis here. That guy was on his last legs here in NY. I hope Tracy can give us more than Steve and I hope for McGrady's sake he can end his career without having to retire due to injury.
