a max the knicks can offer someone via FA is $16.5 mil. a FA can get $17.5 starting from their team.

so if the knicks want to sign 2 guys at $17.5 mil, they would be about $3 mil short.

for an example:

knicks will S&T chandler to toronto for bosh at $17.5 works under the CBA.

chandler makes $2.1 mil so the difference is cap space of $15.4.

that would give the knicks bosh with $17.6 cap space left. they can then do a S&T without having to trade anyone for the 2nd FA.

but at least one of the deals will have to include a knick under contract. a S&T of lee doesn't work b/c his $$$'s are already off the books.

they will have to find guys to come for the minimum. there's no other way. but that's only for 1 season. then they can go back to being over the cap.

Do you hear what you are saying? Bosh, Wade, and Lebron have been hearing the same crap their entire career, "We'll retool next summer". They are going to a team ready to rock and roll from day 1. You cant expect to do damage in the playoffs without a bench. Ask the Cavaliers how that worked out.

We need to keep Gallo and Chandler no matter what at this point. We have no players and no picks.

with a lockout around the corner, i bet there are plenty of quality players that will take the minimum to play with two of lebron/wade/bosh.

So why wouldnt they take the minimum to play with Lebron and a pre-assembled team in Cleveland?

i have no idea how to quantify the likelihood of needing a sign-and-trade to get those guys at all.

we could buyout eddy for an amount that could cover that if things go well this summer after he (likely) exercises his option...
