once again the knicks are mortgaging their future. they may make the playoffs, which is all dolan cares about, but they will never win a championship.

The Knicks are closer to a championship today than they were yesterday, but a long shot. Of course they'll be better this year than they would have been. That's indisputable.

But my view is they'll be better for years to come. Marbury's only 27. They've got a superstar now. How often do mid 1st round picks become superstars (especially when the Knicks are picking)? How often do overhyped European players? They need a couple more moves to compete for a ring, true. We need another strong inside player still, but were you confident in Lampe and Milos leading them to an NBA title in 2006? Take the bird in hand.

Can all the babies STOP crying and wetting their diapers? This was a GOOD TRADE. Isaiah's NOT DONE dealing. This team needed a Star, and now we have Starbury.

If there was ever a reason to have hope and faith in the future, we have it now.

It was purely nonsensical to feel that way about LayDown and the joke of a roster he put together. Now Messiah Thomas is here and making the moves that really improve the team.

Dry your eyes and man up, kiddies. The Knicks will have better days ahead.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

He did in a few weeks what Layden couldn't do in 4 years.

How did he trade Spoon and Eisley and still get back talent?

He got the Knicks plenty of depth in the backcourt and brought a "franchise player" in Marbury to the Knicks. He got rid of the whole McDyess is the savior BS and totally threw away Milos. Ward and Eisley are gone in the same trade?

Talk about getting a back up shooting guard....Hardaway isn't an all-star anymore but he's a darn good back-up.

I can't wait to see what Thomas is gonna do with all that roster space he opened up. Marbury is back home.....

NO ONE SAW THIS COMING!!!!!!

Man....I have to get a drink or something.

It's a good trade. When Layden was here, the Knicks couldn't make a move. Nobody wanted our players. Isiah has been here a couple of weeks and traded Spoon and Eisley - two players who were called untradable. Stephon is a very talented player. He has a reputation for being selfish but I will be pulling for him to succeed as I would for any new Knick player.

Hopefully Thomas can make more moves to further improve this team. He's shown himself to be 1,000 times the GM layden was.

oh man, I read this on another non-Knick forum and almost fell out of my chair. For all of the people complained about the trade:

Great take. Layden did nothing. He did not hold his players accountable, thus they played poorly and when he tried to trade them he overvalued them and often got the short end of the stick.

As for this trade and the cap ramifications....the fact is Hardaway'd deal is shorter than Eisley's and Starbury is not going anywhere anyway, so we have him tied up. When his deal expires he will be only 33!!! He will probably be the best player now in his prime. I think Isiah can help him understand what he needs to do to improve his game.

I just heard on MSG, that Isiah is still not satisfied!!!! This guy is serious about building a team to fit his image.

the quote is money.

but i'm upset that we gave up milos. really dont care about lampe. yeah, i had hopes for him, but watching him play in the summerL, when yes, he was a rook, the guy is just too slow. got burned by everyone. has a chance to be a solid 5 man though. big frame. must tone body - will be better than longley and could be a brad miller/sabas/dampier. has nice hook shot. just has to keep his game in the low post, or high post. not in between, and not try and out-quick anyone. if his game is played out like that, he has a bright future.

milos on the other hand... guy supposedly will be better than marbury, so we got hosed. patience is a word the knicks dont know, so... if we refuse to be patient, this trade was MORE than the knicks and the fans could have ever dreamed of.

And trybanski still has some upside and all will be forgiven if leon smith is the baller isiah thinks he is, we are getting ourselves a baller right there.

Sweetney is on notice right now. trim that baby fat and start producing. Sweetney would have game if he werent 260+ pounds. in the nba he needs to be 235, cut, especially if you are 6'7" PF.

Good to get Marbury and Penny - we got raped with the draft picks and Milos - I can deal if we get Sheed.

as a knick fan of course i like the trade. I am sad to see Ward go, and I wish Mcdyess was better and we could keep him but i dont see him getting any better with that knee. He will be happy with the suns though. But yes i really like the trades and Isiah is gonna do some more.

Ya ass must be on the pipe!!!! LIke Marbury said, Knicks won't ever win a championship without a True PG.. I guess a championship is on the way soon to be.. Except for Jordan, every NBA team afterwards won with a Point Guard and Big Man. I guess we got a chance now...

With Ward's and McDyess' contracts ending this season they may end up right back here next here. Ofcourse with sizably smaller contracts.
