. . . buyout Jeffries for $3-$4 million plus whatever we own him on his deal this year. Jeffries would make the money up with his new team, because he could get paid for the rest of this year and get a new contract this summer. Even Jeffries is worth $3 mil a year. We would shave $3 mill from our cap this summer, which should be enough to sign two max guys (we might have to trade Douglas or Hill in a separate deal to make it work but we could get back a pick in those trades). I simply don't understand giving up so much just to get rid of Jeffries contract on the slim hope that you can entice Lebron and Bosh to come here.

For the next decade?

A swap of 2011s which may not happen because Houston and the Knicks will probably have comparative records next year.
A 2012 protected 1st rounder which by the time that rolls around it'll be a late teens to early 20s pick.
Jordan Hill who is a disappointment - NOT a draft pick - he is a player now.

We're sending ONE draft pick. ONE.

And one we may recoup from the Nate trade.
And Tyrus may be here for Harrington offsetting Hill.

Yeah, he's really throwing picks and assets around!

Come'on fellas....

I know we haven't seen much of Jordan Hill but is he that much more talented than Tyrus Thomas? : /

If winning is the main thing for Lebron, then this looks like one colassal mistake. We will only be able to do one max contract this summer. If we're able to do two contracrs, then we must renounce all of our holds and then goes with our rookie contracts(Gallo, Will,TD,Landry). I know the coach hass fallen in love with the 8 man playoff roster, but it's not enough to get us thru.

this is the same line of thinking isiah used to justify tradng our picks for both marbury and curry.

at least there we were trading for actual players instead of the potential chance to sign an nba player.

I believe much of this Dolan, and i'm beginnng to realize as long as he is in charge, it will be the same crap, just different gms.

Isiah's line of thinking was send 2 unprotected lotto picks + mass exprings out for questionable players on gigantic cap crippling deals.

Walsh is sending out ONE PICK ONE and the potential to SWAP another pick which probably WONT be swapped given the Rockets heading towards a tear down themselves - and he's doing it to SHED SALARY and GIVE THE TEAM A CHANCE TO SIGN BONAFIDE SUPERSTAR PLAYERS.

This is nothing absolutely NOTHING like Isiah Thomas. Nothing.

Give it a good long thought and you'll see it's not anything like that.

----and now I'm done. Time to sit back and see what happens this afternoon. Walsh and Dolan are meeting soon to discuss all the situations on the table. Then decisions come later today. So no need to harp on everyone word or minute this early in the day. Deadline isn't until tomorrow either so it may not happen until then anyways.

That is EXACTLY what Isaiah did for Eddy Curry.

FOR EDDY FREAKIN CURRY dude. EDDY CURRY.

Not for MASSIVE CAP SPACE and the chance to LURE TWO OF BOSH, LEBRON, WADE, AMARE to the Knicks to build a DYNASTY.

Do you not see the difference? Any difference? Really?

And how'd Chicago do with those picks in the end? Noah and Tyrus? LOL? (yes, I know the pick was Aldridge).

We got Chandler in the swap who everyone drools over.

This isn't Isiah Thomas in any way shape or form.

Obviously, I was exaggerating when I said the "next decade" but my point is that we are giving up 2009 first round pick in Hill, we have no 2010 pick, we would be swapping our lottery pick for Houston's pick in th 20s probably, and then we are also giving up a 2012 pick that might only be top-3 protected. FOr all this, we get the privilege to compete with 4-5 other teams for Lebron and Bosh's services. It is a long shot at best and if it fails, we just gave away a bunch of potential talent for nothing. We would be better off buying Jeffries and Curry out.

If you think draft picks are not that important, look at the Suns. For years they gave away their draft picks and now they don't have any young CHEAP talent on their team. Having guys like Chandler and Gallo on you team for 4 years at a rookie rate is huge in building a franchise and if we give away our draft picks, we lose that opportunity. We can buy Jeffries out and trade Hill for a future first round pick and clear just about the same amount of cap space this summer and still have our 2011 and 2012 picks, plus the pick for Hill. To me, that is a sounder strategy.
