A 2012 protected 1st rounder which by the time that rolls around it'll be a late teens to early 20s pick.
Jordan Hill who is a disappointment - NOT a draft pick - he is a player now.
We're sending ONE draft pick. ONE.
And one we may recoup from the Nate trade.
And Tyrus may be here for Harrington offsetting Hill.
Yeah, he's really throwing picks and assets around!
Come'on fellas....
Obviously, I was exaggerating when I said the "next decade" but my point is that we are giving up 2009 first round pick in Hill, we have no 2010 pick, we would be swapping our lottery pick for Houston's pick in th 20s probably, and then we are also giving up a 2012 pick that might only be top-3 protected. FOr all this, we get the privilege to compete with 4-5 other teams for Lebron and Bosh's services. It is a long shot at best and if it fails, we just gave away a bunch of potential talent for nothing. We would be better off buying Jeffries and Curry out.
If you think draft picks are not that important, look at the Suns. For years they gave away their draft picks and now they don't have any young CHEAP talent on their team. Having guys like Chandler and Gallo on you team for 4 years at a rookie rate is huge in building a franchise and if we give away our draft picks, we lose that opportunity. We can buy Jeffries out and trade Hill for a future first round pick and clear just about the same amount of cap space this summer and still have our 2011 and 2012 picks, plus the pick for Hill. To me, that is a sounder strategy.
