The deal includes swapping the Knicks-Rockets first round picks and New York sending their 2012 first rounder to Houston.

The only silver-lining for the people against this trade: The pick will be protected...I think.

Do we have the choice to swap our 2011 pick with Houston if they have a better pick?

This deal sucks. The eliminating of Jeffries salary is great, but looking at what we are giving up....it sucks. I'd rather have Isiah back. Well, maybe not....but Layden, yes!

You worry about 2011 if you don't sign anyone this summer. That's the bottom line. I think it's a loser's mentality to think 2011 will be a higher pick. Be positive man.

Why on earth would you throw in the 2012 pick for TMac?

I love TMac, I know a lot of people don't - but the guy is damaged goods. Hopefully he can pull an LJ and do something when he gets here but with the way this franchise has been going - I doubt lady luck is on our side.

I guess we are officially all in for 2010 - I still don't see Lebron coming here but I would love to be wrong.

My point on the swap is that I feel we will have a better record and we should have the right to swap and get Houston's pick if we want it.

Still, giving up a 2012 pick is a joke. Walsh should return his salary and just retire.

If we can trade Al, Nate and Lee for picks, then we're good though right?
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

The 2012 pick is a protected pick. Who cares at that point, especially if you've signed someone? And if you haven't, you have your pick. This isn't Isiah dealing unprotected picks. You're overreacting.

If we can get a 1st for Nate from Boston then this is even better....come on people stop worrying...we trade JJ and have $$ to spend...we will get a couple studs to go along with Chandler and Gallo....Plus, it is amazing how much better guys look around great players. Look at how good the Celtics made Posey look...or House look. NBA guys are all good and when they are surrounded by great players they can show it...

Stop worrying...get our $ in line and start getting ready to be relevant---it has been too long!!!!

I agree....... And since Mark Jackson the Knicks have only drafted 1 all star.....

Only one and that was David Lee this year!!

What's the big deal?

Walsh doesn't have a clue on how to negotiate! He shouldn't be in the position he is in!

I am glad we will have the opportunity to get 2 max FA. I hope we do get them. But we so overpaid for them. This reminds me of Jerry West's dealing Pau Gasol to the Lakers and then retiring because the owner was a jerk and forced him to make moves. Also forced the issue so West signed Brian Cardinal to a max MLE contract. I wonder if Dolan forced this trade??? This doesn't sound like Donnie.

if the pick is protected i don't see the problem with the deal.

details will have to come in...so it could be a sliding protection like that 2nd marbury pick.

The only silver lining is if we do sign Lebron plus one, we probably get the better end of that swap.

By Chris Mannix, SI.com

The New York Knicks are finalizing a deal to acquire Houston Rockets forward Tracy McGrady, an NBA source told SI.com.
The framework of the deal involves sending McGrady to New York for forward Jared Jeffries, guard Larry Hughes and forward Jordan Hill. The Knicks and Rockets have agreed to swap 2011 first round picks and the Knicks will send the Rockets their first round pick in 2012.
The only outstanding issues involve protection for the draft picks.
The deal could be completed as early as tomorrow.

DW is doing his freakin job!!! You insure that this franchise can be THE MAJOR PLAYER in this FA Market. There's no reason to get in this game if you can't go after two Max FA's. Why would they leave their current teams to come here if it's gonna be just one Max and a bunch of other guys. Now if it's a Max and yet another Max player to pair up, then they feel like we can guarantee a winning situation.
