So much for those who were bashing MDA for his so-called poor relations with Joe Johnson when he was in Pho. I guess Nate didn't get a chance to speak to Joe during allstar weekend (as some suggested he would) to tell him all about how he was benched, and awful MDA has treated him.

you're comparing Joe Johnson's treatment to the one Nate Robinson gets from MDA? you're joking, right? MDA can't stand Lil Nate, right now he's counting the days til he can be rid of him, you can bet on it.

Since MDA has been here he seems to have pirsed off half a dozen guys in 1.5 years. It sounded like Stoudemire and Marion did not like him[two guys who really were the key to getting to 60 wins] so we cant sit here and say he is a players coach in anyway.

He sure didn't tick off any of his olympic players, for they were all singing hie praises. Not to mention, Coach K incorporated many of MDA's offensive sets and philosphies. Listen, when you are the coach, every single player from 1-12 is not going to like your decisions being that all 12 will not play. LB has players who will run through a wall for him and others who will run the other way. Its like thay for all coaches.

YOu know, larry was seen in a similar light. My take that some coaches expect that a professional ball player is in fact a professional and comes in prepared to do his job. A coach should not have to message egos. You either do the job or you don't. Larry likes guys that are ready.

A guy like Nate that is clowning is going to drive SOME coaches crazy!

Remember larry going off that he can't coach motivation? This is why younger players with lots of money don't always turn out to be "professional". Eddy Curry comes to mind as perfect example. Plenty of talent and plenty of money but no heart for the game.

I always thougth it funny that Isiah, who worked his ass off as a player did not recognize some qualities in the players he bought in.

MDA loves guys like Nash as Nash loves the game and works his tail off. Under MDA Nash was a two time MVP.

Maybe the true "professional" mature player loves MDA and perhaps its mutual.

Especially considering he was a product of the '80s Detroit Pistons system. A collection of dirt-under-the-fingernails, high IQ thinking, group of hard rocks. While he was here, he seemingly grabbed players that were virtually the opposite.

People forget Isiah played for Bobby Knight and you can't tell me that a few years under him did not help mold the on court character of Isiah.

Im not Bobby Knight fan but back in the day that kind of hard ass type coaching was acceptable and Isiah and his mother did sign up and I believe had the last undefeated season with Isiah as his Quarterback.

You can't coach NBA players in the Bobby Knight way but what Isiah did was really kind of soft.

I remember reading about Isiah early in his knick tenure and thinking this guy may be the next generation of executive but his vision I believe clashed with the entitled type player.

And having Marbury as your ring leader certainly did not help!

Players love Herb while they are in NY but he is not the head coach either. I think D'Antoni struggles in the role of the authority figure with guys that sometimes need him to act and communicate as the authority figure.

boyscout players are all going to love playing for MDA... he gives them all preferential treatment... Fishlips, Duhon & D Lee for example... then there are guys like Nate, Al & Hughes who get treated like yesterday's newspaper as soon as MDA gets bored or fed up with their antics & they get the silent treatment w/o explanation or communication from the coach... i don't think that makes MDA a player's coach... he's very much an authoritarian coach, he just does things in a much more passive aggressive fashion unlike guys like Jerry Sloan who are more direct.
