Clippers Making Thornton Available

Feb 15, 2010 6:27 AM EST
The Clippers are making young forward Al Thornton available, sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Los Angeles is trying to package Thornton with guard Sebastian Telfair or center Marcus Camby.

A number of teams have inquired about DeAndre Jordan, but the Clippers don't appear willing to deal him.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

we can sign Camby in free agency... why give up assets to trade for him now?

the guy i'd want to trade for is Deandre Jordan but apparently they're not willing to deal him

Put Hill in the deal and ditch a couple of million in salary.

lol... we took Jordan Hill as a #8 lottery pick, don't play him his rookie season & now you want to dump his contract?

i think we could play thornton at PF here... he's one of those guys that i could see really improving his offensive game by being given the freedom that miked will give him.

i'd go for this and somehow try and pry jordan from them.. he's a perfect miked center.

i would offer: hill/harrington/nate for jordan/thornton/camby/butler

How about the following:

Incoming Players
Corey Maggette
Raja Bell
Anthony Randolph

Outgoing Players
Eddy Curry
Jordan Hill
Toney Douglas

The Warriors save 20 million in additional salary in this deal and get two young assets while giving up someone that is very talented. But getting rid Corey is high on there list.

This is a nice fall back if we don't get Lebron we save 2 million and have the ability to move Lee in a sign and trade depending on the market.

AR
Gallo
Chandler
Corey

the article says they won't trade Jordan... if u can get Jordan that's a different matter entirely... Clips are still high on his upside tho.

Thornton would be a bench warmer on this roster, let's be real about it... he's not supplanting Wilson, Lee, Gallo or even Al's role on this team, & i highly doubt MDA would play him over Fishlips either judging from the way he's done things so far this year... dunno if he'd even see time over Bender for that matter.

i know the article says they aren't interested in trading for deandre, but he doesn't play (and when blake griffen comes back he'll be behind him too) and they almost gave him up last year when the knicks traded with them. i think if we gave them Hill we'd could get deandre. i know you love hill, but i'm tellin you, deandre jordan would be a bigtime player here and the same goes for thornton. i hope we can swing a deal.

Jordan is a C, not a PF... he & Griffin are not in conflict... when Camby is gone next year he will slide in behind Kaman & get minutes... they're not going to trade him to us for Jordan Hill when they just drafted Blake Griffin & he'll be back next year.

this has nothing to do w/my regard for Jordan Hill & i know all about Deandre Jordan's upside... it doesn't make sense for the Clips to trade him to us in that deal u proposed... & again, both Wilson & Gallo are better than Thornton, so we have no need to go after him.

Can we at least see if J Hill can play a lick, after getting some consistent minutes and/or we don't re-sign Lee.

Walsh may finally be seeing the writing on the wall if he does this lopsided Houston deal. Its going to take a deal like that to make up for his slumber through last year's deadline.
