This Dallas/Washington trade brought that 3 way back to square one...Caron Butler is a former all-star but in all seriousness, how much better is Caron to Al Harrington??? Not much...and he's a 1 year rental. We already know Houston wants a small fwd...

Al Harrington and Larry Hughes for T-mac??? Two vets to get ready for the playoffs???

That would have Donnie's signature all over it.

Trading a known 2010 for a different 2010 and hope he pans out.

QBRick for Darko
Malik for Wilcox.

It's the same mold here.

But, TMAC is a cripple and dumb as dirt so I don't see the point, but, wouldn't be surprised to see it happen since both Al and Hughes want out.

Might even see Nate thrown in there IMO.

But, to me, why bother unless we unload Jeffries?

I mean we're so close to "2010" that it's now time to just let sleeping dogs lie and let the contracts expire.

But, again, Donnie doesn't like to cut players or just let them sit he likes to see if he can make something out of it. Not in the Isiah mold of recycling an expiring for a 7 year max contract, but, just checking things out.

I hate McGrady, always have, and I would be pretty upset to see this clown in orange and blue but if it happened - which ever way it happens - I'd understand the attempt.

It will prove to be worse than Wilcox or Darko though. Dude is done.

Just our luck though he'd come here and somehow be healthy enough to look good for 2 months, get re-signed, and go down like Allan Houston and then we're strapped with a 3 year contract cripple.

Make the deal happen to shed Jeffries and then let TCrap go at the end of the year. That's the smart route.

Caron plays defense tho... Al is a terrific offensive player but in order for him to be effective he needs to dominate the ball & take a high volume of shots... Butler is able to play more in the flow of the offense & is more of a 2 way player than Al is IMO based on the Wizards games i've watched this season.

I don't know what's gonna happen with TMac, but I have no problem with making a deal for the guy, cuz nothing else is working right now. He's worth a look. Moves like this have been kind of our staple around here, but in this case what is the harm if the guy is ballin, great for us. If not, we weren't gonna do much anyway.

It's a tryout basically...

Donnie is putting all the chips in 2010...Hughes and Al Harrington aren't in the plans. The trade I mentioned is a lateral trade. Houston could seriously use Jared as well so maybe they would take on his extra year just to have his defense and height in the line-up.

Anyway...you mentioned "moves like this have been the staple"...it sure has...getting guys when they are past their primes. Thing is in this situation you have a fallen star on the comeback trail on an ending contract...traded for players not in the plans...Donnie ain't trading the farm for T-mac and that is key.

I welcome the trade with open arms. If T-mac wants to prove himself...if he wants to get mentioned again with the elite...then MSG/NYC is the stage to do it....

Also as I mentioned before...T-mac represents that "second superstar", except he won't be paid close to what he was used to getting. Win, WIN situation for out Knicks.

Yes. Walsh does these moves and they are good moves. Very low risk with a higher reward.

Houston may now be stuck.....if no one else wants to trade for TMac what do they do? Just letting him expire is the worst case scenario for Houston.

So a trade with us looks more probable. The only thing is, it may be hard for them to accept Jeffries which is what we are holding out for. I think it will go down to the wire to see who flinches first. But, as Eny proposed, a Larry Hughes + Harrington for TMac is also OK. It will open up playing time for Hill.....and probably Douglas. And Houston gets 2 veteran players to help them with their push for the playoffs. So an OK deal for both teams.

But Donnie, hold out for Jeffries to be included and throw in our 2nd round pick from Denver.

Maybe a 3 way trade involving Chicago, and Houston can get TMac to NYK.

Here's an Idea.

Chicago trades: Brad Miller and Tyrus Thomas
The Bulls get: Al Harrington (sf) Darko Milicic (c) and 1st rd pick (Houston)

Houston trades: Tracy McGrady and a 1st Rd Protected pick
The Rockets get: Brad Miller (C), Tyrus Thomas (PF), Cuttino Mobley (exp.)

NY trades: Al Harrington, Darko Milicic and Cuttino Mobley's contract
The Knicks get: Tracy McGrady (SG)

well, this is a win win situation for the knicks because i know t mac wants to prove that he still got it so the nxt couple of months, if he can play, he will play like an animal whil dantoni will try to prove to stars that his system is best for you if you come here. if it doesnt work out because mcgrady cant really go then he will be off the books this summer. but mcgrady knows how important this trade will be for him so he will go all out IF he is physically able too.

For the most part, I'd like to to agree with this!

I for one... am all for a TMAC TO NYK Trade, if at all possible! I dont think its a lateral move; because we'd now have a go to guy.. as opposed to a TEAM that is indecisive in defining moments of the game. That said, the knock on TMac.. "he's often been labeled as being soft"; "Injury prone".. and "often times selfish". All in all, its a low risk, high reward concept applied here.. If he succeeds, and somehow regains his top 5 NBA scoring prowess: WE HAVE A STEAL!. If not, we let him walk at seasons end. Whats not to like??? Truthfully its a win win for NYK, IMO. What do we have to lose? Especially if the players in my proposed 3 Way are involved.

To be fair though between Harrington and Hughes they probably chuck as many as T-Mac does. This could be the all time record for number of chucked shots in a single trade.
