If we had intentionally tanked towards the end of last season, this guy could've been a Knick.
I never can understand why this pathetic franchise has not chosen to tank in order to secure high draft pick for the past 10 yrs.
They are always short sighted, not willing to make small sacrifice (actually an investment) for the long term benefit of the team.

i've been saying the same thing since 2001, but this franchise will never buy into the tank philosophy for some reason... instead of guys like Lebron, Wade, Melo, Bosh, Mayo, Curry, Rubio, etc., we end up with the Mike Sweetney's & Channing Frye's of the world.

I agree with you guys. I was screaming for a tank job last year. No-brainer for me especially when it became apparent that we would be competing for the worse record between us, Golden State and Toronto. We managed to edge out Toronto (a small miracle really, considering it looked like Mike was still going pedal to the metal trying to win meaningless games right to the bitter end last year) but we really needed to jump up a slot to seven and leapfrog GS as well. To me, to be that close with two other teams like that for the better pick, you do what it takes to make sure you come out on top. Easier said than done though I suppose --- you figure even if Donnie/MDA decided to go that route, it would have to remain between them and MDA would have to do his best to still make it look like they were trying to win. There's no way they would've been able to get players on board with it (I mean could you imagine the stink a guy like Larry Hughes would've made about something like that if he ever caught wind of it??) not to mention dealing with the ramifications if it ever did get leaked. Tricky stuff but **** man, I still would've found a way to do it. Mike was at the controls and he should've had the team's future in mind above all else...I wanted Steph Curry bad. BAD!! This kid just had "it," you know? So much more than some undersized college scorer a-la JJ Redick or someone like that. As soon as I saw for myself that he had what it takes to operate as a PG, in addition to his monster ability to score the basketball, man I was hooked.. Too bad. What could've been but wasn't..

We didn't have to tank. We could have just not signed Duhon, and accepted winning 20 games or so.

But Walsh, MDA and Dolan want to have their cake and eat it too.

A lot of folks are in love with Evans, but I think Curry will end up being the better player because Evans will never even come close to Curry as a jump shooter, while Curry has shown the ability (not like Evans, of course) to drive to the basket as a compliment to his outside shooting.

I definitely would have tanked for him.

I will forever hate Don Nelson for taking Stephen Curry. He would have been perfect in New York.

That evans is a load, but I agree. As teams start knocking him to the ground to stop his drives, he is going to find it more difficult to score. He won't last 4 years in the league unless he learns to shoot. No guard can make a living just driving to the hole every play. You would take too much punishment (unless you play the Knicks every game since we seem to let anyone drive to the hole).

Curry would have been great for us. I don't blame Nelson, I blame Walsh for failing to find a way to get this kid.

no way, no how. evans is unstoppable attacking right now. he is physically too strong going to the basket. you can't put a pg on him or a sg. once he gets that little jumper down, he is wade 2.0.

curry is nice but does not have the handles nor playmaking ability to be stve nash. could be a nice little player but no way he will make as big an impact as evans. i mean 20/5/5 as a rookie - only 3 others before him.

Guys it's not DW or MDA, it's DOLAN!!!! Always was! Always will be! I know it's easy to blame DW n MDA cuz they most visible, but he's been the one setting mandates for the team to make the playoffs every year. This notion we can't tank and rebuild is all about Dolan. He wants subscribers and season ticket holders more than Titles.

DW is our best friend cuz he's doing the best he can to get us a team that can compete for a title. He couldn't go all out and since Dolan is angry now you know he want DW to make a move to help the team win cuz when fans boo he gets nervous. That's also when we've made our biggest mistakes. Happily I don't think DW is as weak minded as Layden or Isiah. I think he'll do what's right despite the pressure from Dolan. He's done the best he could so far to resist the pressure to get something done that Layden n Isiah failed to resist.

The Knicks did themselves no favors by making it so clear, so early on, that they were after Curry. We helped drive his stock up, because initially when the Knicks showed interest he was considered a major reach as a lottery selection.

It really depends DJ. We can say "He has to develop a jumpshot" or "He has to develop handle" until the cows come home, but this is the current truth: Evans completely relies on driving, and Curry relies on shooting. Both can fall back to the other. If either of them can become more accustomed to the other, it will be over. Both are equally likely to happen. Ball handling and shooting are skills you develop and can develop with practice. I'm pretty sure both players will be working on both.

My thing is this. What if either player DOESN'T develop either of those things. My thought is Curry will be better off. A shorter Reggie Miller will strike much more fear into teams than a Stephon Marbury with no jumpshot.

Hey, some guys tried. Al gave away two games singlehandedly hanging on the rim.

Would it have been impossible for us to make a deal with the Timberwolves for their sixth pick? We would have taken Curry and there is no way the Warriors would have drafted Flynn. We could have given them an extra asset and they still would have gotten the two picks they wanted.

'09 draft keeps making us look dumb.

And to make it worse, Don Nelson benched Stephen Curry almost the entire game in his one trip to the Garden. Nelson is such a drama queen. Sad to say but Mike D'Antoni reminds me so much of Nelson with his personality and stupid gimmick small ball basketball.

Nix that is revisionist history. Last year it wasn't Dolan who was in hiding from the Isiah fiasco. He gave Donnie a free pass. To his credit he stayed away. I remember D'Antoni saying he wants to get as many wins as possible. Dolan is responsible for many things but the Knicks winning meaningless games last year, that is all on D'Antoni who said he didn't care about lottery position. He was concern about wins.

admittedly i wasn't as high on Curry going into the draft as some of you were... i probably would've tanked for Rubio if i had a choice between the #2-#7 guys in the past draft, or might've even taken Derozan cuz i thought he was going to be picked in the top 6 for sure.

I think the jury is out on Hill because your boy won't play him until the team is mathematically eliminated.
