PLAYBOY: Because you’re very?

MAYER: Someone asked me the other day, “What does it feel like now to have a hood pass?” And by the way, it’s sort of a contradiction in terms, because if you really had a hood pass, you could call it a nigger pass. Why are you pulling a punch and calling it a hood pass if you really have a hood pass? But I said, “I can’t really have a hood pass. I’ve never walked into a restaurant, asked for a table and been told, ‘We’re full.’"

PLAYBOY: It is true; a lot of rappers love you. You recorded with Common and Kanye West, played live with Jay-Z.

MAYER: What is being black? It’s making the most of your life, not taking a single moment for granted. Taking something that’s seen as a struggle and making it work for you, or you’ll die inside. Not to say that my struggle is like the collective struggle of black America. But maybe my struggle is similar to one black dude’s.

PLAYBOY: Do black women throw themselves at you?

MAYER: I don’t think I open myself to it. My dick is sort of like a white supremacist. I’ve got a Benetton heart and a ****in’ David Duke ****. I’m going to start dating separately from my dick.

MAYER: I always thought Holly Robinson Peete was gorgeous. Every white dude loved Hilary from The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. And Kerry Washington. She’s superhot, and she’s also white-girl crazy. PLAYBOY: Do you still love her?

MAYER: Yes, always. I’ll always be sorry that it didn’t last. In some ways I wish I could be with her. But I can’t change the fact that I need to be 32.

PLAYBOY: Among the things we’ve read about you online is this: You’re gay. Have you ever kissed a man?

MAYER: The only man I’ve kissed is Perez Hilton. It was New Year’s Eve and I decided to go out and destroy myself. I was dating Jessica at the time, and I remember seeing Perez Hilton flitting about this club and acting as though he had just invented homosexuality. All of a sudden I thought, I can outgay this guy right now. I grabbed him and gave him the dirtiest, tongue-iest kiss I have ever put on anybody—almost as if I hated fags. I don’t think my mouth was even touching when I was tongue kissing him, that’s how disgusting this kiss was. I’m a little ashamed. I think it lasted about half a minute. I really think it went on too long.

PLAYBOY: Is your heritage Jewish?

MAYER: I’m half Jewish. People say, “Well, which side of your family is Jewish?” I say, “My dad’s.” And they always say it doesn’t count. Two, this interview was probably born out of how much shyt he takes from his white friends. They probably ride him for being too close for comfort with the black community and black fans. This was his way of proving something to Becky and Biff.

Three, he's clearly gotten way too comfortable with the fact that he hangs out with black celebrities as they have enthusiastically co-signed him and given him the thumbs up. They've gassed him up with the "you're like us" and "hood pass" talk to the point he thinks he can freely say "nicca."

Four, I just have a problem with him saying "nicca". The fact that he doesnt date black women doesnt bother me. Shyt, most brothas would say they have "david duke" dyks...haha.

Lastly, he's no more racist than any other misguided white person. He'll apologize profusely about this, say all the right things and we'll find something new next week.

Ok, Mayer has this cred thing with Rap stars who he does biz with. He got his "card" and perhaps this is likley him spouting that in the music biz the big rap stars like him. He is bragging about it. John Mayer did not jump on stage and try to take an award away from Taylor Swift like Kanye did. Kanye has had other incidents I believe.

This is whats great about pop stars, if you don't like it, don't listen. If he is not popular then he becomes even more irrelevant.

I think in the entertainment world lots of artists take liberties with language, especial urban artists. Maybe they call him "jewboykikemuthaphuckerbiytch" and he turns around and says "hey whats up my N+++++" and they all good with it. ITs thier business.

A THe quote is stupid, but who we gonna get on everyone when they are quoted as DUMB? That game can get played both ways and nobody wins.

Secondly, he does not deserve a pass for this. For that matter, who the hell does he think he is bragging about his "hood pass?" I think Sebstar may be right when he says he could very well be a racist in disguise. Either that, or afraid of the black population. I think his misogyny has gotten lost behind the racism issue. Any man that feels the need to regale the public about his various conquests is a loser and probably views women in a negative light. I get that men talk amongst themselves and compare notes about women; women do it too. But speaking in that manner in a public forum shows that A. he doesn't care if his female fans (which he for some unknown reason has a lot of) are offended and B. he probably says way worse in private. I find that men like him don't really like women. Women are just vessels for them to use sexually in order to gain further acceptance by their male counterparts.
