Lather, rinse, repeat..........

KNicks lose a few in a row, break out the "Good old days" and polish them up and remember them better than they were. Time for those revival threads to bring back those golden memories and suggest we impliment those dudes today.

Desire Oak as sargent of arms(assistant coach), Ewing to bring his warrior mentality (or was it just blind selfishness?), Starks bring it every nite (except when it really counts), and those great Anthony Mason tough man antics (along with those momentum breaking technicals) and we can relive the past. Lets bring back Mason and he can be our community service guy!

Oregon next Gov'Nah is gonna be Chris Dudley! This guy was getting 7 mil a year (big money then) to back up Ewing. Sure we loved his broken nose thing, but he did suck! Remember when Ewing would wear out and this was our replacement? Hey, but at least we eventually Had Herb Williams!!!! Still do don't we? He might be our answer all these years and we did not know it.

sure we won pretty good and that great defense also had its draw back at times when we could not buy a bucket.

Presently, a few more loses now and we start harping that Mark Jax would be "better" cuz he is from NY and understands NY. OK, so he can ride the subway to grand central so he can take the train to his westchester mansion? He can read a map, so he "Understands"? Don't eat hot dogs on the street? Not walk thru some neighborhoods? Whats to understand NY about?

Then we lament and move on to miss SPree, argue again about the Dice trade and further lament on Layden and its his fault. Then Nalod reminds everyone Checketts and Dolan had traded Ewing, then someone gets on my that Layden further made it worse, which he did, then we trace back to Don Nelson and Nalod brings up what a selfish prick Ewing was which then brings us to Playa going on about how JVG got the gig and was over his head, , and then DJ says somting funny, Fish gets laid, Marv is even funnier, then Isles gets banned again, Playa gets warnings, Bonnie is under the covers jerking off to mike sweetney's calf muscles, and then we start again about Isiah, the bad trades, the gift that keeps givingm, the good picks, then Anucha, the trail, Oh, I forgot we bash Larry Brown again for being a jerk, then Nalod brings up his HOF status but admits it was a bad hire unless the GM is willing to do what was needed, Which eventually got done anyway so in the end Larry was right, then we circle jerk around MDA and his magic he yields but forget the roster sucks, then argue that we'd be better off with ZDumb and Crawful, hit the restart button and do it all again around june cuz we don't got no number 1 pick and somehow its Chris Mullins fault!

We never bring up Don Chaney or Lenny Wilkens. Lenny was from NY, so was Larry Brown. What did they not understand? The Roster sucks but Uncle Isiah gonna pay you a kings ransom?

Crap, I forgot the Xavier McDaniel shrine of greatness rant!!!!

The Great "X" man!!!! Cool dude with the futuristic superhero "X" name and early to shave his head when most were carving mercedes emblems in their hair or doing that pill box hair cut but we had the "X" man!!!!

I looked up his reign with us. It was just one season. He had 24 blocked shots all season, played 28 min a game, aged 13 pts per game and 5.6 rebounds!

I bet most of you before reading that would loved to have traded DLee for the "X" man in a heart beat to revive that super cool like feeling that comes with a bald black man with "X-Man" in a world of Arsineo Hall look alike dorks!

Also forgot the Doc Rivers era 1992 he played 77 games. Next season 19. We traded Mark Jax for this guy. Phuck!!! Derek Harper era was 3 seasons. HE averaged 12 pts a game when here and about 5 assists. Not bad considering how bad our offense was during those bad ass no layup teams. Other teams were also were tough. Remember some of those offensive battles with Miami or Indy? 72-67 game scores? Indy had "the davis brothers" and they were tough. Miami had Zo and PJ and they were tough. The bulls won 6 titles in 8 years. They were tough. Hated Karl Malone and he was dirty. But tough. Rockets must have been tough cuz they won 2 titles back to back when Jordan was out. WE was suppose to win when Jordan was out cuz we was the toughest!!! But the game is who scores the most points, not who Oak biytchslaps in the paint!

Hey, they were great times but there was lots of frustration, starphucking and plain burnouts by seasons end. Ewing would never tell anyone he was hurt and padded his stats and slowed it all down so he could pad his stats and get max contracts and hold Knicks hostage if they tried to move forward. Come playoff time the guy was fried. This frustrated the coaches and management also. Dolan had no balls and should have allowed him to be moved. With Ewing came greatness but also came a price to pay.

Phuch the 1990's, Phuch the White Bronco, Phuch the Rockets, Phuch Reggie and Indy, Phuch Miami and Phuch the Bulls!!! And PHuch revisionist Starphuch memories! It was good, but not that good!

Wow. What an inspired rant.

Were the 90’s really all that or just a blown-up nostalgic figment, marinated in the juices of the god-awful 2000’s???

Well they certainly didn’t produce a championship, did they? And they did provide lots of frustrations, delivered to us by reggie miller, pj brown, Michael Jordan, hakeem olajuan, etc.

But I’d take ‘em any day. I loved always being in the hunt. Any regular season game we played we had a great shot at, and almost always provided a battle for no matter what. Any playoff series we were in was full of intensity, fire and live-or-die gravity. I f’g loved it. the electricity in the garden was palpable and intoxicating. I would love to see it return.

But you were dead-on about one thing nalod. My posts are definitely funnier than dj’s.

the mid 90s to 2000 were the best years most of us have to draw upon when it comes to this franchise... not many of us were around for the championship years of the 70s... i wouldn' trade in those hard fought rivalries w/the Bulls, Pacers & Heat if u paid me right now... even tho we didn't come out on top most of the time vs. the Bulls & Pacers, we did give all 3 of those teams all they could handle & all of them became better teams because they had the Knicks around to push them to the next level... & hey, we came w/in 1 made basket of winning a championship in '94! i'll take that over the crap we've seen since anyday.

Oh the drama of the series were great!!! I recall even late season games with meaning even if posturing for the playoffs! I loved Rileys cool and JVG dark circles under his eyes.

"Palpable and intoxicating!!!'

I rememeber 1996 we were negitiationg on a house on a sunday afternoon in the spring and Knicks were on. Nalod brings a 12'black and white, a lawn chair and parks it on the veranda while wife is measuring. Im watching!!!!

My point is the Drama and Garden intensity I hope does return but that was then and the future will be much different. Its been 20 years since Riley got to town, and coming on 16 since the 94'finals. The game has changed.

"Revisionist Starphuching" Seems to take the best of a decade and think everything was great.

In my view, it was exciting but very frustrating to be a knick fan in that time.

It was ugly basketball, but we were winning... Is it just me or did Patrick Ewing blow a ton of lay ups and was never really clutch? John Starks - don't get me started on that guy... except for that Jordan dunk, the dude was the most frustrating guy to watch... the dude was a flat out chucker. At least he played defense though...

My favorite dude from that era was Anthony Mason... that guy had a great handle.

Rose is not the answer.

We just had our second child and IM yelling at the TV to "Shoot the Phucker and put the game back on!!" When they said he was suicidal I thought "even better". I don't care about OJ and what he did or did not do. My problem with him was his selfish antics was costing me game 5!!! I think we won, goe up in series 3 games to two and back to Houstan for games 6 and if needed(sic) game 7. Certainly we'd win one more!!!!

It was on all the networks and why the hell couldn't NBC just left it alone!

Great post. Those were great times and I rarely missed a game. Its funny because I got home late from work, and was trying to decide if I would watch the game tonight and this thread got me fired up just thinking about those teams. One thing, Doc and Charles Smith were the guys that the Knicks got for Jax. Smith was supposed to put the Knicks over the top. I still have the Post from Game 5 when he missed all of his put backs against the Bulls.

Good post. I think the underlying message rings true. We need to divorce ourselves from the nostalgia when we talk about the current knicks. Most everybody would agree bringing back Ewing and Oakley as coach's would plain suck and Mark Jackosn never won anything either as a coach (may be because he has never coached). Making statements like that for the heck of it and playing on emotions to support your case is a complete waste of time in my opinion. Not asking for any type of censorship here, people are free to post about their thoughts etc. Just sharing my frustration about some of these threads.
TKF on Melo ::....he is a punk, a jerk, a self absorbed out of shape, self aggrandizing, unprofessional, volume chucking coach killing playoff loser!!
