Indiana, do us a solid; free TJ Ford. He is your third string PG. You want to develop your rookie Price, you like Earl Watson grooming him. You sat Ford as much as we've sat Hughes or Nate. Our GM is friends with your GM. Let's help each other out.

You give us TJ Ford, who will solve our PG needs for next season (He averaged 15.5 points, four assists, three rebounds and a steal in the pair of games over the weekend.)

We will give you Indiana native Jared Jeffries. A hometown favorite and a hard worker who plays defense that coach O'Brien will love. We will send you $3mil dollars to help in these tough economic times. And we will send you a #2 pick as well.

OR

We give you our sack of crap Eddy Curry who may actually play well in a contract year for you next year. Realizing this is asking a lot, we will also give you both our #2 picks, and of course #3 mil dollars.

Either way, its pretty much a salary wash but we give you some cash and picks because we think TJ Ford is a better fit with us. We have little use for JJ or Curry, but we do need a PG to make our team more marketable.

***

TJ Ford: "No, I'm not surprised (about my play). It just showed that even though I wasn't playing, I was still getting a workout in. I was mentally ready for whatever happened.

"It's about being patient, but you know in the NBA, things are always going to come back around."

"Whatever the team needs from me, I'm here to do it," Ford said. "I'm not trying to make any demands or cause a problem. Of course I want to play, but it's up to the coach and what he feels is best for the team right now.

"I'm trying to be supportive and do whatever job they need me to do. Whether that's playing or rooting other guys on."

***

TJ Ford.... is there any other PG available in 2010 that is remotely as good as this guy can be when healthy?

What do we have to lose by enticing IND to exchange similar contracts? Sure we're not exactly clearing salary in either scenario, but we'd instantly be worth 5 more wins at least in any potential FA's thinking.

You put LeBron on this team with TJ Ford in 2010, keep Lee, Gallo, Chandler, Hill and you can contend right there.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

it's not good enough to put together a roster that u can just contend with to attract Lebron here... u need to offer him a legitimate shot to win championships... Ford might be better than any other PG available in free agency this year, that's debateable, but he's not going to be the factor to attract Lebron here & neither is David Lee... we need to get another bigname stud to play with Lebron

but for Curry or Fishlips, it's a no brainer obviously... i doubt Indy would do it tho.

I would trade Jeffries, 3mil, and 1 of our second round picks for Ford in a heart beat. That dude is some much better than anyone we have it is not even funny. He has the quickness of nate, with the floor general ability of a Duhon (off alcohol), and he is not afraid to drive to the hole or make a clutch shot. His only weakness is that he is injury-prone and he is not a 3pt shooter, but this guy would make Gallo and Chandler so much better with his ability to push the ball up the court and hit the open man.

TJ has a degenerative disorder in his spine. He is a huge injury risk back of his back issues. He also does not have an expiring contract. I love TJ as a player and leader but his back and contract make him not worth the risk.

TJ Ford is a 3rd string PG on a crappy team. Why would we want him?

No thanks. Yes we need a PG, but we don't need to take a risk. I disagree that we need to have the second stud here next year. I believe Lebron will work with what we have knowing that JJ & Eddy are gone after the first season, at which point he can basically take whomever he wants that is available. Hopefully we will also have enough pieces or picks to trade for Rubio's rights. And right there is our contending team (we resign Lee with available money this summer).

Next year will still be developmental even with Lebron, unless some miracle deal turns up to remove JJ & Eddy now without taking on salary...doubtful.
