Cuban said he wants to make a deal.....

Josh isnt playing well but he would save us 6 mil off the books next year.

What are your thoughts?

Dallas already has Barea and Beabous.

I think they'd take Jefferies to get Chandler though.

Rather do Nate and Jeffries ....... But If we trade Chandler we save 8 million or more in cap space.....

I would do that if they gave us a first round pick along with Josh!

Done. If it works by itself, so much the better. That gets Nate $1M, so he should do it. I'll also give Dallas Curry, Chandler and Hill for Dampier. I think you need the bigger deal anyway to make Nate's BYC status work properly. Hell, I'll give them the Clippers 2nd rd pick too. Just clear the cap space.

Nate
Chandler
Jeffries
Curry
Hill

for
Damps and
Howard

For those who think it is too much to give up Chandler and Hill to get rid of Eddy now it should be noted that next in 2011 when Curry comes off the cap, Wilson's cap hold/RFA status will prevent us from having the space to sign a max free agent (Melo) that year anyway. So, we are going to have to renounce him in any event and he plays the same position as our top fa targets this year and in 2011. We are strategically in a better position if we clear Eddy Curry's contract before this summer so we can max out our cap this year and start using the MLE and LLE in 2011.

Cuban will only make a deal to take on salary if it helps their team improve... trading Josh for Nate & Fishlips does not help them improve

i think the mavs might want chandler. jeff and chandler for josh howard? i'd do it. that gives us another $10M in cap room - that's enough to get two max guys in the summer. you have to do that.

A deal for Josh Howard doesn't work at all fellas....It would have to be Jared, Wilson and Nate for Josh Howard to work...Howard makes all-star money (more than eddy curry) and is free after the 2011 season....just doesn't make sense...

So basically you dont think Josh Howard is cute, because we all remember you saying you want Sergio Rodriguez here so you can suck his spanish chocolate or something like that.

And just so I can make it clear, I have nothing against the homosexual or EnySpree's choice of lifestyle.

his contract has a team option for next season, so the idea for these guys is that it's basically an expiring contract... but again, he's still a good player & unless ur offering DAL an upgrade there's no point for them to make any deals w/us.

a team option? was his agent smoking crack??? if that is true than its a whole different ball game...still chandler/jared and nate for Howard?...will Dallas throw a draft pick at least? I dunno...also if Howard is traded does the team option still stick??? or does it get waived because he was traded to another team??? can the Knicks get Barea back in this deal too?

No- you get lucky and cash in during the internet bubble. Many lost much, but a few, like Cuban, got extremely lucky and made a ton.

Not saying he's stupid, but I kinda don't think the words self made and Cuban belong together.

Don't confuse your preference with fact. Fact is, he made himself a billionaire.

Hold on, you think that having Chandler, Hill, Jeffries and Curry on the team will be a better supporting cast then the team you could build with roughly $51,000,000 in cap space? Thats a roster tha includes Gallo, 2 max contracts at $17,100,000 apiece AND another 16M or so to fill in the rest of the roster. AND, this team is capped out in 2011 which is a postive because is gives the Knicks access to the $5.8 Mid-Level Exception and the $2.2M Low Level Exception.

Look here:

Ideal Lebron/Bosh Scenario
Danilo Gallinari 3,304,560.00
Toney Douglas 1,071,000.00
Second Rd Draft Pick 478,000.00
Second Rd Draft Pick 478,000.00
David Lee 8,300,000.00
Sergio Rodriguez 2,700,000.00
Ty Thomas 5,600,000.00
Lebron James 17,100,000.00
Chris Bosh 17,100,000.00
Marcus Landry 800,000.00

Total Salary 56,931,560.00
Projected Salary Cap 57,000,000.00
Cap Space Remaining 68,440.00

PG Sergio Rodriguez
SG Lebron James
SF Danilo Gallinari
PF Chris Bosh
C David Lee
PG/SG Toney Douglas
SF/PF Marcus Landry
PF/C Ty Thomas

In 2010, this team can still use the Vet's Minimum Exception. In 2011, this team can sign someone Like Leandro Barbarosa to the MLE (or some other ring-hungry Vet)

In every 2011 projection where you cannot move Eddy Curry's contract, you need to waive your rights to Chandler in order to sign a second max FA (and the only available max player is Carmelo). AND you do not get the benefit of the MLE or the LLE.

There are other possibilities for the Curry contract (i.e. trade it during the season as an expiring), but unless you really beleive that Chandler is a max type player, you are better off trading him now.

Josh Howard's contract has a team option. And Nate's contract is counted as half cause of BYC issues. So you need a bigger deal.

Dampier has an "instant expiring" non-guaranteed contract for the final year.

if a trade like that were made, his team option would still be valid as far as i'm aware, unless he has some hidden clause in there that makes it a guaranteed year if they trade him... i haven't heard anything along those lines... still, i don't see them taking on Fishlips' salary for next season in a deal of that nature, even if they get Wilson & Nate in the process... for someone like D Lee, or maybe Al Harrington i can see where they may make the deal looking to stock up on frontcourt help for the playoff push.
