The Lakers have made an inquiry into trading for the Nets' Devin Harris, according to ESPN's Ric Bucher.
This is far from a done deal at this point, but it's also not your garden variety rumor. There should be a good amount of buzz about this in the next few days, and it's fair to say a move to L.A. would hurt Harris' value, adding this to the fact that he's an injury risk as reasons to sell him high

while i think the devin harris trade has been a huge bust for the nets, adding him to kobe, gasol, bynum and odom is just highway robbery.. im assuming this would be

harris
for
farmar/artest/#1 picks?

Artest? would Rod Thorn be interested in bringing Artest into a rebuilding situation?

if i'm the Nets the only deal i'd contemplate for Devin Harris is in a package for Bynum, otherwise what's the point?

because devin harris doesnt have bynum's value anymore. the dude cant even get on the court for 65 games a year.

yeah, but Ron Artest? i just don't see how he'd make sense for the Nets... on a young rebuilding team he's the last guy i'd want my young guys to emulate... Ron Artest has a longterm contract & isn't a veteran leader type to anchor a rebuilding team.

if i were Thorn i wouldn't be interested in any of the Lakers players other than Bynum... Harris & Lopez for Bynum & LA's #1 is more than a fair offer... add John Wall to Bynum & Yi next year along w/the cap space to sign someone like Joe Johnson & another role playing vet like Al Harrington & you got yourself an instant playoff team right off the bat... Lakers would gain an instant upgrade at the PG position & not lose much production if anything at all at the C position in Lopez.

that still doesn't make sense- but it is a good trade.

Why would the Lakers give up on Bynum?

I can see trying to pick up Harris cheap- opportunistic. But not sure that they would want to give up Bynum.

The Nets are trying to secure MAXIMUM cap space next year. If they drop Harris their salary will be less than 20 million with a lottery pick.

They'd be able to sign two max deals out right.

They can bring O'Dumb back into the lineup and Harris makes life easyier for Kobe. Harris is better than Rajon incase they meet again in the finals.

Harris will look much better with a proper team around him.

dunno why the Lakers would give up on Bynum, i'm speaking from Rod Thorn's perspective here... there's no one on the Lakers i would be interested in other than Bynum... Kobe obviously is not going anywhere, so if the Lakers are approaching me for Devin Harris, i'm countering with what they want for Bynum, otherwise i tell them to have a nice day.
