I've posted on here a while back about Larry Sanders and got mixed reactions on whether or not he would be a good fit for the Knicks... since then he has gotten better and started his move up the mock drafts, NBAdraft.net currently has him going 12th. I think Larry Sanders at center would be a perfect compliment to David Lee right off the bat. Even though he is not a "polished" player right now and is lacking a consistent offensive game, we know for sure he can do a few things. He is an elite shot-blocker (6-10" with a 7-7" wingspan), a superb athlete for a center (not on Dwight's level, but he can run the floor, has good quickness, and can jump pretty well), and he can hit the mid-range jumper (his shot is average right now, but it can only get better with time because he has nice form). The only negatives that stand out as potential problems are his size (220 pounds), his low post offense, and his free throw shooting. NBAdraft claims that he has a very good frame and should fill out nicely and he has nice form on his shot so hopefully his free throw percentage gets better and I'm not overly concerned with his low post offense because in a Mike D system he will be a perimeter oriented center and if DLee is here next year we don't really need a low post player because Lee is so efficient in the paint. NBAdraft.net said he has only be playing basketball since his junior year of high school so his potential could be very high.

While Sanders may not be a complete player, his skill set matches what we need at C. His ability to block shots, play good defense, and hit the midrange jumper make him a perfect compliment to DLee. Do you think it is worth it to trade up and try to grab Sanders? And what do you think it will cost? I would really consider trading a future first rounder to get this guy. We are essentially banking on us signing either Lebron, Wade, or Bosh this year and becoming a contender, so a draft pick around 25 really doesn't hold that much value. I think it might be worth packaging Nate, Mobley's contract, and a future first rounder for a high first round pick and an expiring contract.

What are your thoughts on Larry Sanders now that you have seen/heard more about him?

What's Defense?

Isn't he a little too old? He'd be a good locker room presence though!

If he's going 12th, what's the point? We don't even have a first round pick.
