![]() It their version of a Kindle thingy that Amazon sells. Looks like big iTouch. Not a laptop replacement. With "cloud" computing taking less demand off hardware these smaller lighter machines do plenty for what people want.
I don't like reading off a screen and like magazines still and newspaper but times are a changing and just cuz I don't like don't mean its not valid. I think Text books should be issued this way. Costs less and the information can stay current. Great education potentials. Colbert say they should call it "TamPod"! |

It doesn't have a real operating system. Exactly - they will have to change a lot of that before it really catches on. I think version 2.0 will be a lot better, but they will have to fix all of the above before it becomes a killer piece of hardware. Apple likes to control everything though so it might not happen - I have faith that the jailbreaking community will make this thing cool though, they made the iPhone a lot better. ![]() I got the Kindle recently and love it. From what I've read about the iPad it seems like they are two entirely different markets. The Kindle is stricly for people looking to read, not surf the web, watch movies, listen music, etc and for the ADD crowd the book element will become completely nonexistitent. Besides what is the point of a device like the Kindle being in color? Unless you are reading a Graphic Novels Book how many books are in color for adults?
I also like the Kindle' slimness my hardcover books take entirely too much space in my handbags but the Kindle fits perfectly and it doesn't weigh my bag down. |

![]() Do you miss the aesthetic part of books? The cover art, the page turning, the look / feel, etc.? I love the green aspect of the kindle, but can't imagine staring at a computer screen at night after bascially staring at one all day at work.

It looks like ink on paper. And battery life of close to a month makes me happy. A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

Reading my Kindle right now and yea the battery life absolutely kills the iPad. I can read it during long-haul flights without worrying the battery is going to die. |

I own certain classics in hardcover form so I haven't gone completely wireless. But also if you can't imagine staring at a computer screen at home than why would you even consider purchasing the iPad? |
