The Knicks waived Michael Wright...I'm not sure why, but they did. Maybe they are all of a sudden cost conscious and didn't want to pay his contract. They have roster room, and he seemed to be liked by the coaches for his work ethic. Well, another years draft that produced nothing. What's new.

Precisely. I can't say I'm surprised. I said all along that we should have taken a chance on Loren Woods. And look now - Woods has a guaranteed contract with the T-Wolves, and Wright and Chenowith have been waived.
We suck.

Maybe it's to take two in return when trading one player. It's a shame though we wasted this draft but at least he wasn't a 1st round draft pick we washed down the toilet. Best of luck to him, maybe the nbdl?

I kind of thought that may be the case as well, but rosters are not set, so the Knicks would not have had to waive Wright until the trade was finalized.

I was thinking the same thing - maybe we're gonna trade ward or Eisley 2 for 1 and need roster room.

Too bad we didn't auction off those picks that we had... for at least future considerations. I'm telling you, we should have picked up Ruben Boumtje-Boumtje.

Maybe a deal is close and that the Knicks needed the roster spot. We have too many PF but Wright was a prject that could have worked out.

I know i'm going to get hated on but I think that this is what's in the works - plus VG can keep his roster rotation to 8.

I definitely don't like it... but it might be a necessary evil to get a good Center. I mean, we need someone who can actually play Center for us and Marc Jax might actually be our future at the Center Spot, with Camby sliding over to PF for the next 5 years as the NYK's front court. I think we all agree that Marc Jax is a better Center than Foyle. I mean, Foyle is not a legit starter, and Marc Jax is.

Or we could trade Eisley for Foyle straight up once his BYC expires - sometime around november i think.

New York trades: Howard Eisley $4,781,250
New York trades: Othella Harrington $2,475,000
TOTAL: $7,256,250

Golden State trades: Marc Jackson $3,250,000
Golden State trades: Bob Sura $4,913,334

TOTAL: $8,163,334

TRADE ACCEPTED

Due to New York and Golden State being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. New York and Golden State had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Golden State would also receive a trade exception of $907,084 with this trade. This would have to be used within one calendar year from the date of this trade.

Be aware that this exception will be extinguished if the team which possesses it falls below the cap by the combined amount of the exceptions it currently possesses.

why'd we waive Wright and not Larry Robinson?! We don't need any more backcourt help, and to groom a young Anthony Mason, why'd we do this...

Maybe we wanted to give Wright a chance at the developmental league...I believe it is starting very shortly.

He should have stayed his final year of school.

Agreed. He's blown it now. Or maybe another NBA team will sign him? He was great for the U of A last season and he hasn't done too badly this preseason.
We suck.

We should have cut Larry Robinson instead. Imagine a young gun nucleus of: Camby(26)/Harrington(26)/Wright(21)/Postell(22)
Let the guys mature... everyone talks about us not rebuilding and us being a veteran team, but we have the blocks right here, right now.

I agree with you, Caseloads. We should have given the guy more of a chance. I thought he was doing well this preseason, and he is a good rebounder (a rare thing on our squad). Also, isn't Robinson like 28 years old?
We suck.

Damn what's the point of wasting our draft-picks like that??? We should've picked someone with potential (Woods, Bountje-Boumtje).

L-Rob is 33 years old! I just read that on the Newsday.com article, "Meet the Knicks."

That sucks! What is the point in waiving Wright and keeping a pensioner of a baller who hasn't done anything the first 13 years of his career?

Give the young guys a chance for once!
We suck.
