He could probably replace Jefferies right now. Maybe the Knicks will make a move with Nate or Harrington with one of our 2's to see if we can get up into round 1--some very nice players--diversified through the first round +

Problem with moving into the first is that it can add a guaranteed contract, in the millions, onto the 2010 cap.

1mm $ or so isnt changing anything. I have to doubt that he would last past 14--but someone has to fall this year. This kid is a beast for a freshmen. It doesn't take a brain scientist on a kid like this. Matt Bouldin is also a guy who the Knicks might like at 54. He's not a super athletic guy but he is built like a mack truck and can play some PG along with SG. I think this draft could give us a good opportunity to restock the bench for a long time--a lot of really good players imho. This kid will never stay in school.

Ive been able to watch this kid some on the German national team. He always been a great athlete but has had suspect handles (which for a guy his size is never a good thing) and shot.
Ive heared he has become better though over the course of the European championships and at Gonzaga. The German coaches are really high on this kid.
It will be interesting to watch his future development.

Dont understand where your Jeffries comparison comes from, as he is not nearly as versatile on D. Hes waaay to small for NBA PFs and Cs

This kid is the closest true prospect I have seen to Shawn Marion since Shawn Marion. He is 6-7 225 and put together. I don't know what JJ does that is so special for us--certainly he cant score or rebound like this kid---and from watching him he looks like a good defensive player. This guy explodes to the rim with strong hands--that will translate into excellent rebounding in the NBA.

Thing with Elias Harris is, that he has really taken a huuuuge step forward in the past year! He has all the talent to become a good player, but I am not sold yet that his development will continue in this horrendous pace.
The thing that JJ does and the ONLY reason he is in the Knicks rotation is that he can defend all 5 positions. Harris is not able to do that and imho never will be.
In my opinion thats not the aspect I would expect of his game though, that was why I was confused by you bringing up JJ. He would have to fight with Chandler, Harrington and Gallo for minutes on this team not JJ.

In comparing him with Shawn Marion... Id say he even now has better form in his J. Doesnt say much right with Marions horrible form but hey... And I dont see Harris being physically dominant in the NBA like Marion sometimes is.
What I like is that he seems to be similarly active like Marion...

Well time will tell... I like the kid just think hell not continue his fast ascend at this pace.

Haven't seen Harris enough to get a feel but when you mentioned his measurements (6'7", 225 lbs.) and said Shawn Marion, the player that popped into my head was Jamelle Horne from Arizona. Horne goes 6'7" 210/215 lbs. and is very athletic. I've seen him operate above the rim many times and he shoots the 3 well. Problem getting to the line this year & making his FTs which really surprises me, given his skill set & ability...I really thought this kid along with Nic Wise were gonna step up & have much bigger years for the Wildcats and for some reason, it just hasn't happened. New coach, new system? Possibly. Who knows? All I know is that if the Knicks wind up looking for a SF/SG with one of those 2 2nd round picks, he could be an option. They could do a hell of a lot worse - I think this kid Horne's an NBA player. He'd be a good guy to grab there with some nice potential.

TMS, what's your take on Horne? You watch a lot of Arizona games. Is it me or is it puzzling Horne's not putting up better numbers? Personally, I think he's capable of much more than what he's showing.

Fine, i was watching ARI games last year while living on the West Coast, but not too many games being aired out where i am now... Horne didn't show me all that much last year, he was a secondary role player, Chase Budinger was seeing the bulk of the minutes & touches at the wing position.

if we're looking for another SF that can rebound, score, block shots & run the break, my pick is Damion James from TEX... some of the numbers he's putting up this season are pretty sick... caught him in a couple games on ESPN this year & altho he didn't exactly take over the game at any point, but he will fill up the statsheet through the course of the game & he's very consistent... from what i saw, he played more like a PF/C than a SF, but he can stretch the D & shoot from the outside too... this kid has been averaging double doubles a game since his sophomore season, pretty impressive... if we were to trade Wilson Chandler at any point for say Ricky Rubio for example, i would love to have someone like this to fill his shoes.

this is not true - those contracts don't have a cap hold until we sign the draft picks. we just hold their rights until we sign them. this is why teams routinely wait until august, after most of free agency, to sign their picks.

This kid is going to be a player--he is made for SSOL. Maybe we can do what Denver did with Lawson this year--trade a future 1 to get high up enough to get this kid.
