Just imagine fellow forumers if we had T.Ariza (ucla) and Russell Westbrook

If that was the case I'd bet LBJ, Wade or any other FA major star would come to NYK in 2010

i remember a lot of posters citing examples in years past like the Hawks, Bulls & Celtics as teams that got nowhere by bottoming out & trying to rebuild through the draft during those debates we had when we made the Zach Randolph trade because some of us were arguing that the starphuch method was the wrong way to go... all those teams have made the playoffs multiple times since & 1 has won a championship.

the question of bottoming out or not bottoming out is not in question here. sometimes you have to bottom out and then use the starphuc method. maybe donnie would be open to the starphuc at some point down the line, but he had to clean a mess up first.

the knicks had a unique, dirty mess, it was a toxic spill in clean waters and it killed penguins and wildlife, you know? that's why we're bottoming out. which method is better is not where we're at at this point in time.

Donnie has been approaching this the right way for the most part, clearing of cap space, keeping our draft picks & trying to develop the young talent... this was not the way this team did things when Layden & Isiah were in charge of this team, which is the reason Donnie was brought in to clean the mess in the first place.
