I've started a new site, called KnicksTorrents - http://knickstorrents.com. I have a handful of games right now (the last 4 games or so and some of the more interesting ones from earlier in the year). Most of the files are .flv's (flash video) and I'm using bittorrent to distribute. Head on over if you're interested!

You'll need a client like utorrent - http://www.utorrent.com - to download the games.

You'll need a client like VLC Media Player - http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ - to view the games.

PM me if you have any questions (or reply to this topic).

I rip the games off NBA League Pass broadband so no... for classic games you may want to search on google and try to find out what else is out there... something like:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&source=hp&q=knicks+torrents&btnG=Google+Search&meta=&aq=f&oq=

And click through the first few links...

You'll find many games on bt.davka.info, sport-scene.net or even sportbig.org

It's great to see an other Knicks capper. Can you get good quality out of flv / NBA league pass though ?

The quality is actually pretty good... the resolution is 640x360 which is roughly equal to HD 1080i quality.

Hey Cosmic,

I remember seeing your posts of games uploads. They are fine if you are in the US, but for international folks those file sharing sites are usually blocked (I am in Hong Kong).

I think people may get a quicker download if they use those file sharing sites. However, bittorrent can be very fast as well - it really depends on how big the swarm is for a particular torrent (a lot of people seeding/leeching on decent connections will mean you download quickly as well).

lol !

1080i is a resolution of 1920x1080 where the picture is interlaced. Besides, the resolution doesn't matter as much as the video bitrate, which should be over 5M for a 720p cap, let alone a 1080i one...

A quality 720p cap should weight arond 4,5 Gb, so a 1080i cap with a good video bitrate would be around 6-8 Gb... so I wouldn't say that a .flv rip from an internet source is roughly equal to HD 1080i, but more like an XVID SD video.

I stand corrected! I just thought 1080i meant half the effective resolution of 1920x1080. I just play it on my laptop and connect it to my TV via HDMI cable when I want to watch it on a bigger screen.

I find the compression for .flv to be pretty good... all I can say is see for yourself.. thanks!

Is that true? I didn't know that about the downloads.

I mean, I don't get anything out of doing this, other than to help fellow Knick fans watch the games.

I also record and compile in a very low resolution to force an entire game into about 250 megs. Even at the low res I record at I still get about 1.1G of data that I then compress.

I recorded a game in "actual" resolution once. Came out to 9 gigs. LOL. Yeah....not exactly uploadable.

But again I ask, should I stop what I do? Those of you who download...let me know. So I'm not wasting my time.

If you ask me, an objective observer of the situation, I say yes. You were doing it out of kindness, to help people less well-off in terms of watching Knicks games. Now, this guy auchan comes along, he has this great passion, this great thirst to devote himself to the cause. It seems that you are relieved.

But before you get your wakling papers, I suggest that auchan puts a picture of you on his site, like a trophy or something so that you are never forgotten.

Cos.. I'm not sure I would just stop doing it. I mean I don't use your vids but I know there ALOT of people here that do and I'm pretty sure they really appreciate what you do, hell even I do as just a member of the forum. I wouldn't stop just yet. But hey, that's up to you.

I really appreciate the work and huge effort put into capping, especially since you seem commited to cap every Knicks games, that's a DREAM COME TRUE. I know how hard that is and I'm really greateful for that. I'll be one happy customer and help you seed the games on my optical fiber 100/10M connection, so that should rock.

I was just saying that flv at 640x360 were not like h264 720p caps compressed at a high bitrate. I watch plenty of games on my HDTV which is linked to my iMac on which I download the games, and living abroad I know all too well about torrents, capping and stuffs like that. I'm a member on most torrent sports community and I can tell you that a dedicated Knicks capper was definity needed, so I welcome and thank you for all of that

Maybe Cosmic could joint auchan42 website as an additionnal or backup capper, and post his releases there via torrent ?

You could either provide two different quality, a low 250MB file and much larger one for the same game, share the load, or work together so that when one of you can't record a game the other one can step up ?

You know there's another thing, now you can't get popped by the Feds. For auchan it doesn't matter because he is far far away.
