Look for a trade of MCDYESS & WARD to the Blazers for RASHEED WALLACE, i will come back with the specific numbers and players involved !!!
What does DICK CHANEY & DON CHANEY have in common ?? They both accidentally fell into a job they don't deserve & really suck at doing it !!!! Both need to be fired !!!

Portland has the upper hand with almost any trade involving Sheed. Look for them to also demand a draft pick or 2.

Instead of giving up Charlie Ward with McDydess I would include Michael Doleac C, Mike Sweetney PF for Rasheed and #1 draft pick (which may have to be restricted). Real GM 1375389.
I would then trade Eisely to the Bulls for Eddie Robinson.

Depth Chart

PG - Frankie/Moochie
SG - Houston/Ward/Anderson
SF - Van Horn/Anderon/Robinson
PF - Thomas/Rasheed/Leon Smith (if we sign him)
C - Mutumbo/Thomas/Lampe

We can keep Ward at least for the end of the year. Then next year with both Eisely & Ward gone (I would resign Ward if we lose Moochie in the expansion draft), this will enable Milos to come in and be the back up PG. I'm not a chess player but Isiah needs to looks at how a current move is going to effect a future move (which I believe he is doing)
By the way in the making of my depth chart before I forgot about Othella. I would trade him to a team like Denver or Memphis for a draft pick.

Then for the expansion draft I would leave Houston, Van Horn, Anderson, either Moochie or Robinson unprotected. Moochie would probably be claimed if he has a good second half of the season for the Knicks, which would help rebuild the cap.

The problem with getting Wallace is that you have to re-sign him after the season, so that's one more, cap strangling max contract.

and the fact that he plays the same position as KVH.

Well... the weird thing is... if we can trade McDyess and Ward for Rasheed, we could let him go after the season, and dump off a lot of money from our cap, while perhaps giving ourselves more athleticism for the playoffs.

It's essentially the same move as letting McDyess & Ward go at the end of the season.

Thats a good idea but I doubt they will let Rasheed go just like that. I think we should stick with Dice, but dump one of KVH or H2O's long term max contracts. Let Dice walk next year and get a little chance of getting under the cap.

i'm thinking the same. we keep dice & get sheed somehow, we dump about 30mil in cap for next year just on sheed & dice. who needs more cap space than the knickerbockers?

First of all Rasheed is a natural power forward who is playing out of position, in favor of Zach Randolph. Second, we try to re-sign Wallace at the end of the season for a reasonable amount of $, if we can't then we just move on and utilize he cap savings. Third, the idea of trading Doleac and Sweetney is to clear up roster space for Lampe and Leon, also to keep roster spaces open for future deals and pickups and also to accumulate draft picks. This is how the knicks can win now and still build for the future.

The blazers need a backup center and backup power forward who was the 9th overall pick. Sweetney may be out of shape, but the Blazers had a player that some considered out of shape and now a star, his name is Zach Randolph.

I want some value in giving up Sweetney, that is why I want a restricted 1st round pick in the deal.

Charlie Ward needs to remain a knick because of his playoff experience and the knicks should show loyalty to a player who has given his all for 10 years. Charlie leads the Knicks in 3pt fg%
which makes him an ideal backup SG to Allan. Besides the impressive back court of Williams and Houston, having Moochie and Ward/Anderson in the backcourt is a very good 2nd unit.

why would portland do this, Sheeds contract is off the books at years end so this move does nothing for then cap wise and then they would be taking a hit talent wise because sheet is better than dice is now and ward is no better than their PG's... I just don't see portland making this trade, even with future picks..

They wouldn't. They want an estabilshed star or a first round pick and an expiring contract. Unless they want Houston, and the Knicks want to move his contract, no deal.

If they plan on letting Sheed walk at years end, they have little leverage. If they ride him, they can at least get in playoffs and make money. If they need to clean up image to prevent tix sales loss, then they can take dice, let him walk and have some cap space.

If sheed wants to sign ofr 3 years here, fine, with a clause that he keep his mouth shut.

Personally, I think we should get Abdul Raheem. Better numbers, 2 year contract, and a real work horse. dice, thomas for Rasheed.

This deal would help Portland this year because they need another Center and Power Forward. They get a young player like Sweetney who has a low salary and who has potential to contibute like Zach Radolph has. They will get cap relief if they let Dice go. Also Portland has been looking to change it's image, so having a good guy like Dyess who can play center for them is a start.

This is from Vecsey, so it's probably not true, but:

http://www.nypost.com/sports/4870.htm

. . .

Yet another fact-finder reveals Thomas, indeed, attempted to redirect Norris to the Cavaliers for devalued Darius Miles, who recently was deleted from Paul Silas' present and future game plan. In the young point guard market for months (a lot of plays have been made for Jamaal Tinsley and Earl Watson), the Cavs countered by asking for Frank Williams and Othella Harrington. Thomas was equally unsuccessful pitching Ward for Miles.

Don't misunderstand; just because Cleveland showed no interest dealing Miles for him, don't think Ward is unwanted. Because of his $2M buyout clause and ability to hit big shots in big games, numerous teams, including the Spurs, Pistons and Blazers (who may be inclined to swap Damon Stoudamire for Howard Eisley and Ward, or maybe not) have made inquiries.
