So what's the point of having the draft then?

A little analysis for us ignoramus's?

Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream things that never were and ask why not?

Whiteside's on CBS Sports channel tomorrow night at 8 pm. Marshall vs. the UCF Knights. This'll be my first look -- sounds like this kid may resemble VCU's Larry Sanders a little. 6'11" 235 lbs. (up from 215 lbs. - he supposedly managed to add about 20 lbs. of muscle recently). I think he's currently leading the NCAA in blocks per with over 5 a game. Didn't do much recently matched up against Ed Davis of NC back in December (I missed that game). That was being billed as a big barometer game for him. First time I remember hearing his name...He didn't fair too well in that contest but he's still only a freshman. He's got time... I was just watching Sanders before -- VCU @ Hofstra -- and Sanders looked a little lazy and disinterested to me despite an impressive start to the game where he went 4 for his first 4 for a quick 8 pts. Then I turned that off, saw a little Purdue vs. Ohio St. -- it's nice to see Turner back healthy. I was watching when they were interviewing his mother in the stands. She sounded very proud and concerned about him when he first hurt his back. Kid's quite a talent.

Too bad we don't have ours. I look forward to draft day. It's like Christmas.
This year no presents. Grinch Isiah left us a lump of coal!
I think this year instead of going to ESPN Zone to watch, I'll just go out front my building and burn an effigy of Vasolinebury.

I said we should draft Evan Turner last year. You said he was a ball hog and part of the reason BJ Mullens didnt get more touches on offense.

He's pretty good huh

I think the words I used was poor man's Caron Butler. John Wall is the flashier player and he is fast super athletic and skilled--but Evan turner is the better player of the two. The only question mark left with Evan turner is what exactly happened to his back and while he is playing great again--will there be a lingering problem. But if he is 100%--then if I had pick 1 I would take him from what I have seen. He's a triple double threat and impossible to match up with.

I only watched that team last year because some mental case on this board kept posting about a player who's initials meant felatio. After watching a couple of those games I came away thinking the best guy in CBB I had seen in awhile was Evan Turner. More like a rich man's Caron Butler. Longer, more fluid athlete. Maybe like a Butler on offense and a Marion on the boards.

The focus is going to be on late first rounders and European players we can bring over cheap to fill this roster out after we blow our load paying out Lebron and Lee

The more I watch Greg--the more I realize that he will be better in the pros than he is in college in that system--IF he plays hard and I think he will. I also thought he was soft last year--but the more you watch G Town the more you realize it's not a place where you bring out the best in a player.

If this kid puts on 20/25 pounds of muscle--you*could* have another version of Dwight Howard--he has to put on the size but the length athleticism and mannerisms are close. This may be high for him right now but I think that he jumps up with the raw talent. He may end up being a risky proposition but at 9 risk/reward.

I don't think he looks like rich or poor Butler anymore--he is clearly a Brandon Roy type guy and when healthy a better distributor and rebounder than Roy--thats a pretty darn good player right there--when healthy there is no doubt that Evan Turner is the most productive player in college basketball. And a guy who at 6-7 can play 1 guard through 4--thats a nice package.

Personally, I think Xavier Henry is going to be a beast in the pros. His physique is already NBA-ready and I see no reason why he doesn't go in the Top 3 this year.

I think you're right about Georgetown...

As for Monroe, I saw GTown play WVU when they upset the Hoyas at teh Verizon Center. Monroe was a complete nonfactor and last year's WVU team has absolutely zero frontcourt. I know it was only one game, but I didn't notice him at all. Against ranked competition with such a size advantage, I question his testicular fortitude.
