If we hypothetically sign Lebron and Bosh can we sign THEN Dlee with his bird rights and deliberatly go over the cap? Lee gets resigned AFTER those two. When Eddy and JJ come off the books the next year we go back under. Hypothetically of course.

Im not saying it makes sense or we should, just if we CAN!

Also, if we can, could we sign and trade DLee for a piece we need as it also might fall into those bird rights. Im not saying we should, just asking if we could.

DLee will have a cap hold of around $10M.

2010
Curry 11.3
Jefferies 6.8
Gallo 3.3
Chandler 2.1
Hill 2.7
Douglas 1
Lee 10.5
Bender 0.5
Landry 0.5
cap holds 2
----------------------
40.7

so with the above team, you can spend roughly $14M.

There is a cap hold. I think it is $10.5M. You don't have cap space while the cap hold exists. If you signed Lee to another one year contract, next year you could max him out after having signed to max FAs (assuming we cleared enough cap to get two max FAs.

As I noted in another thread, if you get rid of Curry and Hill, you can have 2 max FAs and Lee (at around $10m).

You know I gonna spin wit it

Can Lee be signed to a long term that is back loaded with year to year incentives such as this years playoff bonus? If I'm handing him that bonus I'm offering him a long term and asking him to take it back loaded so I can increase the talent level he plays with. And if 2010 and 2011 are less than the current bird rights it frees cap space. Like.

8 mill and a one mill bonus for team in 2010-2011 playoffs
10 mill and a one mill bonus for team in 2011-2012 playoffs
12 mill etc.
