its a good charity, one I have heard of. When I went through treatment for lymphoma at age 19 my oncologist was heading the Valerie center which is pediatric blood disorders and oncology... essentially kids sick with leukemia and blood diseases. Watching kids battle that stuff and watching parents watch their kids battle that stuff is life changing to say the least. I strongly urge giving even a small amount.

thanks for the info.. I lost my mother at age 63 to lymphoma in 2001. watching my mother battle through that was the toughest thing in the world for me, espeically when my mother was never , ever sick in her life... Just having to imagine parents having to watch their kids go through that is just heartbreaking.... Sounds like a good charity, One I will keep on my list...

A girl in my neighborhood, who I went to elementary school with, passed because of Leukemia when I had just entered middle school. It was sad and had a great impact on the neighborhood. The parents continued to live there, but it never felt like they lived there. Felt like their house was empty.

I would encourage anyone looking to make a charitable doantion to consider a charity like the one mentioned. Losing a child is never easy and that burden greatly impedes the day-to-day.

similar story: my first Little League team's catcher had Leukemia. We certainly weren't best buds cause I only knew him through that team for 2-3 days a week for a couple hours of practice and then weekend games, but I do recall that it was my first real taste of sadness cause someone else was sick (missed half the season) and then was suddenly gone. Why gone and why can't he play any more? He looks tired. Why? Hard questions for a parent.
