So a week ago they offer Skip and T. Battie for Nate, and now they cut him!! You see how wise Donnie is? And you see how Rod Thorn prods and pricks his way around? That's why he's an awesome GM.

With the way the Nets are playing, I can't say Thorn is an awesome GM. I know he made moves for cap space, but these guys can't get it together.

Nets press release.

The Nets have requested waivers on guard Rafer Alston.

Alston, who was originally acquired via trade on June 25, 2009 from Orlando, has played in 27 games (13 starts) for the Nets this season, with averages of 9.7 ppg, 3.9 apg and 2.8 rpg. Currently in his 11th NBA season, Alston holds career averages of 10.3 ppg, 4.8 apg, and 2.8 rpg in 646 games.

I think Skip would play well here if we gave him a shot..

Yea, he might play very well here. But Nate and Larry would throw a hissy fit if he was signed.

Alston really isn't that good at all. There wouldn't be much of a difference between he, Duhon and Hughes. He can go elsewhere.

Is Larry Brown still hanging around and causing trouble?

I disagree 'ol Abe.. I think Skip can still be a good backup PG.

Don't they know Isiah no longer runs the asylum
the fact that you can't even have an unrelated thread without some tool here bringing him up make me think that rational minds are few and far between. Bunch of emotionally weak, angst riddled people. I mean, how many times can you argue the same shyt

You're reading into it too much IMO.

They held onto Alston as a salary to make a trade with. If they cut him and then tried to trade for Nate they wouldn't have had the salary (of players they were willing to deal) to make a trade possible.

They weren't trying to pull anything on us. They knew Nate was in the doghouse, they knew we only want 2010 contracts, so they offered their 2010s for Nate.

No big deal here.

And we certainly weren't looking to acquired Alston as you are led to believe. We were looking to dump Nate and likely still are. Alston was just a salary to make it work. He's going to Miami anyways.

Fair enough. But it seemed like a good storyline. Thanks.

Isiah just pulled his juice card on Magic, barring him from MSG.

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I dont see why Alston would want to come here. Hes just a half a year fresh from competing for a title with the Magic, and before that, with a very good Magic team. The guy wants to win a championship. Not fiddle around with a rebuilding team.

He is a real nice backup pg to have though. I always have liked him.
