The Bulls and Bobcats play tomorrow and they're in the 7th & 8th spots right now. Bucks are gonna play in NJ tomorrow, so I hope the Nets have that rare great game. To think that we are so close to the playoff race after such a poor start is funny and crazy at the same time. The East is really bad and we really turned things around too.

This team has no excuse for not making the playoffs this year. We're pretty much even with the teams ahead of us and there's plenty of time. It's gonna be about who wants it more.

Lee and Nate should want it more (like 1 million more)

playing well vs. the Bulls & Bobcats will go a long way towards showing us where this team really stands right now... these teams are all fighting for the same last few playoff spots in the EC so they should all be up for all the games they go up against each other... particularly the Bobcats, they've played us really tough in recent games

Yeah I never thought i'd get to the point where I felt the Bobcats/Knicks was a rivalry, but it's getting to that point with them. That team always gives us trouble and I love nothing more than to beat them. We're staring the Bulls, B Cats and Bucks square in the eyes right now and we'll see who blinks 1st. This is gonna be fun.

A GOOD OLD fashioned playoff hunt, like wolves in the winter. this hasn't happened in so long and now it's like a mini playoffs to get there. so david lee, he say "this is the best i've felt at this time of the year ever with the knicks", and he would know! something is seriously different with these knickerbockers!!

The playoff hunt is more dynamic than anyone makes it out to be. You are not just chasing a specific team you are chasing a SPOT. A spot for which about 7 teams are also chasing and within reach of.

Meanwhile, the Bulls, 7th, have won as many games as we have over the past ten (6) and in that we have not gained on them at all. This is something you look at. The Bobcats have won 5 over 10 so we gained 1 game over them but we face them Friday and that is a MUST WIN game against a team that is known to give us a lot of trouble.

Overall you do not look at games behind, you don't look at the teams you are chasing, but you look at the teams that are also along side you chasing the same goal and most important you look at a win total you expect to give any team a playoff birth.

That win total is about 38 games right about now. That means we must play .500 ball the rest of the way. While we are playing quite well our schedule is also at it's weakest point. That is another thing you look at. Our schedule gets increasingly more difficult as time goes forward. How we respond to that will dictate whether or not we are in a playoff hunt.

You start to think playoffs in March which coincides with our toughest month of the season.

You don't look today. You don't beat the Bobcats on Friday and say "Okay, we're 8th, we're playoff bound! Stop the season! GO KNICKS!!!"

For if you do then you're just one of those fans that lives and dies by every win and loss. You win, you're the best team in the league, you lose, you're the worst team in the league.

Quite a bad way to be a fan IMO.

Stand back, enjoy that we've hit a winning streak here, and then watch and hope they carry that winning spirit into the teeth of a really horrible March schedule.

This is what can happen: Knicks sneak into 7th spot, play the Celtics in first round, STUN them and the world by winning 4-3, thrilling 7 game series, Knicks end up in conference finals where they stun Lebron 4-3 and bam, finals.

its a looooong season. Knicks have a good style of play right now and are defending every night. Lee is playing out of his mind right now and I would be carefull with his minutes.

MDA has Chandler playing much closer to the basket and thats been huge also. If we can keep Duhon's booze filled legs fresh and continue to get good play from Nate Knicks have some weapons. Hopefully Gallo continues to develop and we keep getting better. Its been fun to watch

I am taking my family to the Bobcats game this week. I hope that rivalry shows up and that the Knicks put the smack down on those confederates. It's time for us to step up and show our chutzpah, and to maintain it for the rest of the season, get into the playoffs and do well. Then we can take a bow as we will have completed our final audition for the King. And if we somehow get to face the Cavs in the playoffs, oh hell yeah. Would make this the best year for NY hoops in a decade.

Is there anybody who doesn't see the direction for our team is up up and away?

I can name several deluded jerk-faces on this forum alone. Check the Berman comment section for more.

Some people are just haters by nature, they hate their life, their children, the teams they root for. Everything.

And about the bobkitten rivalry, hey, as long as we have a rivalry again. This could be the new Knicks/Pacers. Both teams are coming up together it seems. The bobkittens are playing the best ball in franchise history and for us, well, it sure feels that way for the younger fans.

It would be great to squeak into the playoffs just to go to a home game for the first time in god knows how many years. I actually like the matchup with the Celtics. Garnett can't guard Harrington and Chandler always does a good job on pierce. I can see them getting very tired down the stretch. Mike really needs to think about getting Curry about 10 spot minutes a night because against players like Howard, Perkins, Shaq we really need a big body that can bang.

The Bobcats are going to be a tough team to jump because I can see them around .500 for the rest of the season.

And they're hot right now, after beating Miami and Cleveland on the road.
