not much to report I guess. Lots of 1-on-1 cause guys wanted to get in shots.

I thought Hill set MUCH better picks than he had in Summer League or spot play early on.

Landry looks like a 10th man, second unit keeper.

thoughts?

i had mentioned in the game thread last night that i thought hill looked pretty good out there. he wasn't getting the ball dropped to him in the post, but he ALWAYS had good position downlow and always had his hands ready to catch the ball down low - he just never got it down there. he was also in very good position for offensive rebounds during his stint. these two things are huge for me, there was no question about his athleticism it's his raw skills that he had to improve and just by watching his mechanics last night, he looked like he's been working on them alot in practice.

Hill was initiating the offense, or at least setting the first high pick off the the ball up high, same as Lee does. Don't think he did anything of much interest after the pick was set.

Don't know if the posts were something of design or just habit from Hill. We shall see.

Hill showed a consistent midrange J as he always does... he showed energy & activity... he showed the ability to get up & down the floor well & a willingness to hang tough in the paint & provide a shotblocking presence (even tho he was called for the foul on Rush when he tried to drive to the hole)... Hill keeps showing he can be a contributor, but he'll have to wait his turn i guess... just glad to hear all the glowing reports about his work ethic in the pre-game & seeing him remaining ready til his number is called is refreshing.

Marcus Landry did some nice things out there, really hustled & showed a nice touch from the perimeter... another guy who has shown he can contribute if called upon that's working hard & staying ready.

I was at the game last night. It was basically a scrimmage by the middle of the first quarter. I can't remember a team looking so uninterested and unprepared to play (I should say an NBA team in deference to the dog-ass Giants) as Indiana did. Zero defense.

So, it was hard to read anything into the extended garbage time. Yes, Hill hit a couple of nice mid-range shots, but you can see him do that during warm-ups. The only player who impressed me in the fourth was Douglas, who had 2 nice steals and was playing serious, in your face D.

Other impression from the game -- Danillo, while he was shooting v well and doing good things with the ball in general, does almost nothing without the ball. I don't know why that is, but he really needs to correct it if he's going to be a force. And Chandler definitely looks to be coming into his own. His decision making is getting better every game.

I speculate that is a little bit by Coach's design. Dude has an iffy back, do we really want him out there setting picks or running around like Rip Hamilton?

lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

I saw Nate controlling the walk up and then dumping it down to whoever was closest and then that player went 1-1.

It's the closest thing to a PG that Nate has shown all year.

Other than that, no, no player showed anything spectacular.

Besides, we played an NBDL roster caught on a 21 hour back to back game at that.

Not much to take from that 4th Q or honestly the game - other than we beat a team we should have beat.

Hill looked like he knew what he was supposed to do out there. When he played in pre-season, he looked very uncertain and hesitant.

breen and clyde had a few comments on the practice habits of landry/hill/douglas and it sounded like they were putting the effort in there. i hope it translates to some legit mins at some point.

The few times I've seen Hill he looks like a natural player inside. He definitely has good moves and he hits the boards- he just hasn't always been finishing his shots and I think that's nerves more than lack of skill. I think he'll be good player once he becomes a regular part of the rotation. I have no feel for his ceiling yet or how good he can be.

Hill has more upside than Bender. I believe Hill's range will stretch to the 3pt line next season. But Hill and Bender are nice tall front court players to have. Especially at their salary ranges. Nothing better than productive cheap labor, aproaching 2010 FA's....

I've seen him set a few picks down low to free up guys in the paint. He does need to move around more to get free, but there have been a few times where he made the effort and was not rewarded. He has to show a more consistent game in the post before guys are going to feel comfortable throwing it to him down low, though. Besides a good strength program, Gallinari has to develop some automatic moves when he is posting up. Chandler's greatest improvement this year has been his 12'and in game, and it has done wonders for his efficiency recently.

Don't see the back as an issue, and it is on D where limitations from the back would be most visible, IMO, and he does not seem to be showing any hesitancy on D.

Bender is house money at this point. If he gets his act together we have a decent rotational player. If he shows no improvement, you just let him go after this year.

Landry is perfect for a bench guy for this team. He fits the system size/skill wise. If someone got hurt, then he could fit in, and he doesn't cost anything.
Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

Landry is real good, he's much better than Roberson. He will be like a great back up back up and might even blossom! He's still a rookie.
WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

i agree, cuz the guy can play on both ends of the floor & he accepts his role for what it is & comes cheap like u said.
