Don't know about the rest of you, but I'm going to start wearing an orangeblobman jersey.
Second time in a week that the Kings outplayed the Lakes and then handed them the game.
Udoka goes to the line with 5 tics left up by 2, after an intentional foul, and proceeds to clang a pair.
Kings got too cute trying to pass the ball around the perimeter and get an extra second off the clock, instead of getting it into Udrih or Sergio's steady-FT-shooting hands. So they wind up with Udoka, a guy who doesn't shoot many FT's trying to ice the game.
(insert weird unh-uh voice form Along Came Jones).
I could use another replay, but the Kings defense was all scrambled on that last play.
Inbounds to Gasol straightaway, tightly guarded by Udoka (who I believe got switched off Kobe).
Kobe plows over Sergio who stumbles about 10 feet back, so Gasol drops a pass and Kobe has a wide open 3.
Sergio stumbles towards Kobe. Bang!
Worst possible outcome for the Kings.
Why was Sergio on Kobe? How come no other King was anywhere near the perimeter (and the ball)?
Either make ya damn FT's or guard against a 3.
Fail at both ... pschaw.
Udoka really needed to stick on Kobe or get help from Nocioni/Casspi (I forget who was in).
Despite the mistakes, Udoka did get a very key possession for the Kings after Shannon Brown missed a corner 3 and Gasol was tracking the bound down near the opposite corner -- Udoka swooped in and knocked the ball off Gasol.
Set the stage for a fantastic wtf drive from Udrih (I think I have the order of all that right).
Hawes has looked real good in the two games (cavs & lakers) I saw him in recently.
Intense, dropping 3's. Using his makes, to fake 3's and drive down the pike.
He had a little trouble banging with Bynum and Gasol on D.
And Hawes had almost all of his boards and assists in the 1st half.
Und I guess everyone looks good going for their career high, but I was impressed.
But it was like Hawes was trying to activate the Dirk Gene in his DNA.
When Lakes were down by nearly 20 in the 3rd, the refs started giving the Lakes a bunch of home team comeback calls.
That was weird last week where the Kings went toe-to-toe with the Cavs only to fail to score a point in OT.
Can't remember seeing an OT goose egg before.
