It's back to rookie Toney Douglas as Mike D'Antoni looks to invigorate the Knicks after two straight downers over Christmas Weekend.

"I need to get him back playing some,'' D'Antoni said.

Douglas has been a DNP three straight games and five of the last eight. Douglas' emergence was a chief reason D'Antoni gave for exiling Nate Robinson, but instead Larry Hughes' workload has increased. Hughes, however, has struggled the past few games after returning from a groin injury and the Knicks have dropped two straight – to Miami and San Antonio.

Now it's Douglas on stage again – with Robinson so far out of the picture, it's not even worth asking D'Antoni about any longer.

In a roundabout explanation, D'Antoni said before flying to Detroit, "There's certain guys in this league - Toney, Marcus Landry - you can play for one minute and they're fine. They'll give you everything for one minute and be over there cheering. There are other guys who need roles and need them defined. Nate Robinson. Al (Harrington) Eddy (Curry), Will (Wilson Chandler). If you don't have that bulk of minutes, you can't just throw them out. There's a disrespect there. You have to respect what they've done. I don't have a role for those guys.''

This is called trying to maintain minimal trade value. More of a backhanded insult. Had to group Al and Will in there because those are two guys he has been really leaning on to get better. At the beginning of the season, he was touting Will and Gallo as centerpieces and slowly but surely Will is being pushed to the back burner and being replaced with Lee.

I have a feeling Lee will be back, Will is so so now because he was being touted as a PF by Pringles and is still the same inconsistent tweener with no jumper or range minus that explosiveness that made everyone think he would be special at one point.

Pringles is building this team around Lee(his new version of Marion) and Gallo(a guy he is slowly building up to go to guy status).

I can already see it. If MikeD played Eddy and Nate in garbage minutes all they would be doing is complaining about how they are better players than playing in garbage time. Players talk out of both sides of their mouth too...

If he respected them he would talk to them. Curry was quoted in an article yesterday saying that MDA has not spoken to him since his benching.

MDA is about as honest of a coach with the media that you will see in the league. I don't think he lied when he said he wanted to develop youth, but things come up, Bender fell into lap, vets need to be respected, etc.,. He is committed to developing youth, but the thing is, the youth is youth. Is only first half of season, we are playing awesome, he is riding the wave. Plenty of time for Hill, Douglas to develop.

say nothing... or tell the truth & say he's going with the guys he thinks gives our team the best chance to win right now... i'd respect that a lot more...

when players start BSing, we got on them about it... i don't see a problem w/calling out a coach for it.
