Who has FIOS? Does MSG cost extra? Does it air in HD?

I was considering switching from Cablevision to lower my bill... but watching the Knicks in standard def is beyond my threshold for pain.

Maybe I'll cancel my extra channels and opt for Netflix.

Get rid of your car and health insurance and you should be able to afford MSG

MSG is fighting HD for the NY sports area because that is their only trump card for sales. I just got FIOS on Saturday, lower rates for sure so what if I watch the game in standard def. I now have the NFL network

I have FIOS (Union County NJ) after years of Comcast. Comcast had MSG in HD, FIOS doesnt. It does suck, but I wouldnt go back. FIOS has more channels, more HD channels, pretty much more everything and its cheaper. On demand and DVR is better also. It is annoying

you might be able to get MSG in HD on FIOS if you have an HCQ connector on your R7C unit. Just check the back - if you have a 23 pin DIN connector, you should be able to insert an IPG attenuation dongle there. Then all you gotta do is reprogram your DPT relay to accept IPQ commands via the YJC block. This is simple to do: Just attach a laptop computer to the USB port on your R7C unit and load the configuration program. Then download the version 234.a7g firmware from the website. (Just be sure to get the right version of the firmware, otherwise your 47C unit may explode.) Upload the firmware to the R7C unit, then fire up the assembler and write a little program to reroute your IPQ commands. Just be sure to allow for TYXO2 interference from the NBU sub-assembly and you should be fine. It's quite easy really. Good luck.

Its the only reason why I stick with CV is because it has MSG in HD. I wish Verizon would get it. I would switch immediately.

I have Time Warner cable and it broadcasts MSG in HD. It didn't for a long time, but then they worked out a deal. I am pretty sure erizon just doesn't want to pay the asking price for it. If enough peeps complain, they will add it.

From everything I hear, the service for fios is awful and i have had no problems with cablevision service, if something goes wrong.

You are all spoiled though! Theres nothing wrong with watching tv in standard. I guess we are all losing touch with our primitive side!

Nothing wrong with standard def? I couldn't disagree more. HD on my 52" LCD is almost as good as being there. Phenomenal pic and sound. Standard def is almost unbearable at this point.

i'm in the process of switching to fios- don't have hi def, not sure I have room at home for a big screen or the budget.

I do plan to switch back in a year when cv can match the fios offer.

doesn't Fios' prices go up after the promo period expires? my parents had Fios internet at their place in NY & it was awesomely fast, but we kept our Time Warner cable cuz i didn't feel like re-programming all the DVR settings... eventually switched back to Roadrunner internet cuz the Fios promo expired.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

what you gotta do is keep switching between cable and fios when the promos run out.

How's this for the ultimate letdown -- about a year ago I switched over to Fios from Cablevision (got a good deal on the Triple-play package so I figured WTF - plus my old man retired from Verizon after working there for over 30 years - back when it was still Nynex or whatever the F). Later I got the big flatscreen and the surround sound for the living room and my buddy came over to help me set everything up. Great. All ready to go. I knew the Knicks were on and that was the first thing I went for. No HD...I was so pissed..Ran right to the computer and googled 'MSG HD & Fios' to find out what was up. That's how I found out I got hosed. I mean I just assumed every provider offered the same stuff, you know? Last time I ever assume anything...How's that for not doing your homework... I felt like a member of the Knick scouting department. LOL..

Overall Fios is good, no complaints except for the no MSG in HD. That would've been I deal breaker if only I would've known..
