I thought that speedball was his biggest draw, so when I read (in addition to observing it with my own eyes over the past few weeks) that MDA has slowed it down, it got me thinking.

What makes him unique and a good coach now? What parts of SSoL are still being used?

WE AIN'T NOWHERE WITH THIS BUM CHOKER IN CARMELO. GIVE ME STARKS'S 2-21 ANY DAY OVER THIS LACKLUSTER CLUSTEREFF.

I guess you could call the fast break a part of ssol. The fact is we haven't run SSOL all year. So I don't know why Mike gets hammered for his coaching. I happen to think he is a very good coach who tried to stick with a plan and when he saw the players were, (let's face facts here) TOO FUCKING DUMB TO RUN HIS OFFENSE, he dumbed it down and has since run a more conventional attack with some of his preferred game plan peppered in here and there.

That's what makes him good. He won at speedball in Phoenix. Then when he decided his players needed to slow it down and play better d, he's winning at that.

Basically, MDA realized that our knucklehead players did not have the BB IQ to play of fully open, SSOL offense. It just turned into a brick shooting contest. SO he wisely slowed the game up and told guys like Al and Chandler to focus more on drives and ball movement rather than taking the first open shot. It has worked because the players started focusing of creating better shooting opportunities. This boosted our scoring.

MDA then realized that Lee sucks at defense, so he began implementing more zone defensive schemes to hide Lee and some other players and confuse our opponents. In short spurts, the zone defense has helped us maintain and build leads, which has been the difference in the wins. MDA finally started adjusting his game plan to his players.

I think people forget that even in SSOL there is a halfcourt component to it. They don't succeed in getting a shot quick everytime even in PHX. What the team is doing is running the rest of the sets he has always had in the system. The change is the approach to the start of each play. Duhon acts like the D got back on every play regardless if they do or not. He can't play fast so we go into the halfcourt phase of SSOL.

We still spread the floor and run pick n roll only much slower. The open floor allows for Al "Lone Wolf" Harrington to take his drives to the hole with lots of space. The same for Lee's rolls to the basket and Chan's full speed drives. MDA's stuff still works at half speed!

why do people blame the players for not being Steve Nash Joe Johnson Steve Nash Amare Stoudamire Steve Nash Shawn Marion etc and not the coach for waiting till he had 65 losses in 1 1/4 season for realizing what kind of team this actually is.

They look pretty smooth as a unit out there playing 1SSOL and maybe, just maybe its because the core playakers all have come up in half-court systems.

the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!
