It is probably a good thing Magic Johnson wasn't hired as Knicks president a few years back. Seems Magic doesn't understand the salary cap or know one exists.

Magic's pearls of wisdom in an interview with The Post's Steve Serby was the Knicks should sign a Chris Bosh-type to attract LeBron James.

See, Magic, there is something known as the salary cap. And though the Knicks are poised to have the most room under the cap than any team in 2010 - $26 million - it still will not be enough to sign two maximum free agents. They still would have to deal either Eddy Curry or Jared Jeffries to accomplish that goal. (Last July, the projections for the cap has gone down for 2010 because of decreased revenues due to the recession.)

Magic is the same person who recommended Isiah Thomas to former Garden president Steve Mills, then trashed Isiah in his book, saying he's known all along Isiah spread false rumors about Magic being gay. Magic is the same person who during the Knicks 23-59 season, predicted the Isiah-coached Knicks would turn it around and make the playoffs.

Magic is the reason Isiah was hired by the Knicks. He, has become something of a buffoon to Knick fans. Today's remarks regarding the Knicks' plans only confirms it.
