Here is a trick I use with FireFox, I don't know how to set up custom css for IE or Chrome or other browsers:
1. Create a file called userContent.css in your Firefox profile directory, inside of the chrome directory. - On OS X this will be inside of <home>/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Profiles/>random characters>.default/chrome/ - On Windows this will be inside of %appdata%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\<random characters>.default\chrome . - If you've been upgrading since very old versions of Firefox the profile directory might be called default.xxx

There is still the annoying overlay image that is see-through, but what the hell. There is a way to make that go away but it's trickier. OK, so now you can read his blog if you go to this url: http://www.newsday.com/sports/basketball/knicks/the-knicks-fix-1.812055. Going directly to a blog article won't work.
