Well, it looks like 'Spoon's tenure with the Knicks is all but over. Sweetney has already been activated and Vranes has been waived.

Frank Williams is on the verge of starting (for better or worse). I'm not yet convinced he's going to develop into an starting-quality player, but when he's on the floor, things happen. Not sure if it's because there's no scouting report on him or if he really has it. Certainly we'd better find out.

We've been reading about some rumors about Jamaal Tinsley maybe coming to NY. Tinsley's court vision is supposedly all-world, but some of his decision making is supposedly suspect, as is his outside shot. Until we see what we have in FW, I doubt we'd pull the trigger on a deal for him. I'd also imagine we'll be reading about Isiah talking to Vujanic's agent or at least taking a trip out to see the guy play.

Lampe has been deemed a major project--- and his work ethic has been criticized. It remains to be seen how he'll respond. Maybe this will make him into a man.

I think Chaney is going to be gone by the end of the season, whether or not the team turns it around. He's done nothing for too long.

If GM Thomas feels the team is gelling and has a good shot at doing some damage in the playoffs this year, I think Kurt Thomas may stick with the team. If not, we'll probably see him go for a lesser player and a pick.

Mutombo and Doleac are also trade bait for the same reason. If we're not winning, they really don't serve a purpose here.

As much as Ward is our best overall PG right now, his contract makes him a good candidate to get waived.

I really think we should just let their contracts run out unless we get a superstar athlete in return. It would be great to see, Dice, Doleac, Ward, Spoon and KT come off the cap. We will get relief and then we can try and trade. I think the first contracts that should be tried to dump are KVH, Eisley and Shandon Anderson in that order.

We would be getting of 25million is cap relief. We would really be well on our way to cap restructuring just by letting the contracts run out. Does anyone else think the same way? Why bring in more money if its not showing a championship promise? Anything less than THE BEST is a failure right?

Bravo! Bra-friggin'-vo! Now you're talking.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

Wait a second HARDCORE; are you telling me that you wont cry when KVH leaves?

I didn't realize Keith has a max contract! KVH is a decent player but not for the money he makes. That Max contract makes him one of 3 on the Knicks which is just not acceptable. He is obviously the worst, HIGHEST PAID ATHLETE on the knicks and we dont have that type of luxury. He really has to go to clear cap space.

Why is Shandon Anderson making so much money and why did Layden sign Clarence to this ridculous contract? Spoon has 3 yrs $15M left on his sheet. There is a lot of work to do. The payroll right now is more than double the NBA salary cap which is somewhere around $44M this year. We have the leagues highest payroll at $88M. We are something like $27M over the luxury tax which is or was last year at $52-$53 million depending on players with team options or if they used their Veteran's Exception.

That means Dolan has to pay the league another $27M on top of the $88M he pays the players just cause he went over the line!

David aldrige sais the same thing about Van Horn.

"Do a Mutombo/Kemp. Buy out Keith Van Horn after this season. You owe him $30 million after this season rain or shine, so sell him on the idea that he'll get all his money up front, and become a free agent in a summer where there's probably not going to be a luxury tax -- and teams will likely be more likely to open their wallets. Also, by becoming a free agent sooner, KVH could get one more decent contract before the Collective Bargaining Agreement expires after '07. Teams are already gearing for that -- look at how many superstars' deals expire after that season. The reason to do it is so he comes off the books after the 2003-04 season, not '04-05. That would put New York under the cap after next season, a place they haven't been in a decade."
The Future. GO KNICKS!
