Larry Hughes can ball...period...He's not the athlete he was in the past, but this dude can seriously play the game of basketball. His defense is always good, so is his passing...shot selection as a Knick this season has been fine.

I'm just sick of people complaining about what a guy did in the past. Respect is due...I dunno if he is "just playing for another contract"...you can't fake good basketball. Larry Hughes is definately a good basketball player.

You're right, respect is long overdue. What's our win streak now?

Oh wait, its ONE.

so the Knicks losing record is based on What Larry Hughes has done? Larry Hughes is not the problem and he is far from it.

Too bad Coach made Duhon captain, Hughes/Nate/Toney should be splitting all these minutes this year.

respect larry: trade his ass right now!

why can't he do what he did last night with the assists every night?

i've said he should be starting with td, that that would be our best back court in years.

Larry would be a great player at maybe $5MM per year, 3 years max- his contract (Danny Ferry, no?) is the reason folks hate on him.

Oh, and his 0 for during training camp did not help.

Also- I have to point out that MDA had this guy in his dog house and only when the chandler at the 2 experiment failed and hughes started to get burn did we start to be somewhat competitive. I really wonder about Coach and his ability to spot and nurture talent.

I must be missing something. Hughes has been in the league for more than ten years, and there has been a shortage of big, playmaking point guards in the league. Why hasn't anyone given the ball to Hughes and made him a pg?

This system requires the player to kind of "get it."

The knicks, not being the sharpest bunch in basketball terms, are taking a while to understand the philosphy behind Mike's system.

Lee got it early. Jeffries, too. Things clicked with Hughes a few weeks ago. I think TD understands how to make the system work as well. When you don't "get it", you can look really horrible out there (duhon).

Thing is, it only looks good and is effective if the all five on the court get it at once. That's why Mike prefers a shorter rotation.

Hopefully soon, like last night, you'll see the lightbulb come on with some of the other players.

Let it be known: I believe in the Knicks this year-- deep into the playoffs, I swear to you my brothers...

Larry Hughes gets it. I still hate his beeline bricks with a passion but he gets it. Duhon needs to lose minutes to Hughes. And then those extra minutes need to go to Douglas. F'Duhon.

Last night....our entire team looked VERY tradeable. Especially FISHLIPS. Let's keep that going. Chandler, Lee, Nate...all looking very sexy to teams mulling giving us a 2010 for Eddy Curry. *prays like a mofo*

Oh and unlike the rest of our team Larry Hughes actually LOOKS to get Danilo the ball.

Hughes once played like that for a couple years, and thats why he's got the contract he's got now. A true SG with legit PG skills and an excellent defender. Injuries and bad shot selection have really hurt him.

The thing I like best about him is his d. He's one of the best defensive guards I've ever seen.

Because Hughes was a gunner who could not shoot consistently. He always could pass, but you cannot have a gunner as your PG. He has toned his game down now, which is making him more effective.

Can we give him our MLE next season? I'd re-sign him for his D and passing if it was reasonable and wouldn't impact out cap.

We'll be under the cap next season so we won't have the MLE.

Hughes had to Humble himself...he's wanted to start forever. He keeps saying he can score in this league. He's confident, but I think now he's older...he's not the run and jump athlete he used to be. He's getting back to playing basketball....its great to watch.

Hughes could run the point guard and guard the point guard position...wish D'antoni didn't have a hard on for Duhon. The offense was running smooth as silk last night with the ball in Hughes hands...pause

I think every team is entitled to the MLE regardless if you are above or below the cap..

nah, that's wrong. the reason it's called the "mid-level exception" is because it is an exception to the requirement of being under the cap to sign free agents. in other words, if you are over the cap, you can still use the exception to add a new player.

Package him with one of our bad deals to a contender. Thats the extent of my excitement about Hughes' play.
